Children already know what respect is, but the parents don't. Don't try to let them understand, when you don't do it yourself. Take your own responsebility, your children know already everything so don't project your shit on them and let them be who they goddamn are!

Teaching children respect is extremely simple: respect them. Children do what you do, not what you say. Theories and sayings mean nothing if respectful behavior is not modeled.

For example, I take issue with the idea that "we're not able to control how others treat us." True, we cant control others' behavior, but we CAN set boundaries if someone is mistreating us. We are not helpless to accept abuse. Teaching children respect means respecting their boundaries!

To build a muscle stronger you rip, tear, and to some degree, hurt it. Nobody likes to be uncomfortable in general, but talking nicely and encouraging your body to grow stronger or more able to deal with the strains in life that can be placed on it, will unfortunately have about the same effect as it will with children.

Now I'm in no way advocating abusive behavior. I just think that most peoples kids back talk, misbehave intentionally, get away with belligerent behavior, don't respect or often even have any reason to respect their elders. So when they become adults, its no surprise that they become what they where trained to be as children.

So by only being nice to children, you often end up with full grown people who are still children. The objective of childhood is to prepare for adulthood. Children need a sense of purpose and destiny, a daily sense of accomplishment, competent mentors, understanding the nature of fear based responses, and someone that cares enough to proverbially backhand them into next week if need be. I'm basically saying they need discipline to the point of killing them if necessary. Just like any other adult gets in life. Well perhaps capital offenses don't receive the death penalty in your home town, but they do in mine.

Kids needs parents.
to kids parents means, protection, safety, security and leadership..
If you have been a friend to your kid well, you will have just that in return from your kids.someone that never had a parent that will feel insecure and needs to step it up to make sure of his own safety.plus kids know what’s good for them, they will doubt your parenting worthy ness and will challenge you to the MAX.

That’s not what Respect ACTUALLY means. I’ve noticed that most of the populous has confused the word Decency with Respect. They are two different things. Your upbringing, your culture, how you shake hands, etc have nothing to do with Respect. In fact, I don’t have Respect for about 90 something precent of the individuals I know. I Love them, and show them DECENCY, but not Respect. First of all, look up the definition. You cannot just throw Respect around, or it won’t mean what Respect means. You must learn the meaning, and then realize what you Respect in YOURSELF, if you even DO Respect yourself, which most don’t, either. I have the upmost Respect for individuals such as Carl G. Jung, Nietzsche, Dostoyevsky, Kafka, Terence McKenna, Buddha... Prolific examples for Self Respecting entities who have examined THEMSELVES, formulated what would be their TRUTH and live by that truth regardless of the world. Nothing to do with being a socially decent human.
Teach children to develop backbones before they venture out into this cold world.

Guess what ? Most of the time CPS loves what you are saying here and they are horrible to children.
What we actually need to see first is that children are like us basically and deserve respect first. Then you
do not need to teach them how to respect they learn from what you do. I encourage anyone to read Alice Miller to is life changing to read . She was invited to the first MRI studies of the human brain due her studies of child psychology)
Children recognize more than we think the old way only allows for children who gradually become desensitized to themselves
in order to survive the humiliation they are very very aware they are suffering  They are aware you are not going out of your way to teach another adult how to be respectful. So why do you do this to them?  Unless you are afraid ot the truth please pick up a book by Alice Miller at your local library  She is in laymen's terms and if you are in the know  too please read
again these books are life changing.
