can't remember exactly what the build was, but last year I made a mage-summoner build that could take out a hand eye of moon lord before the first deathray, with pre moon lord gear ofc

You better use the dark artist's helmet for more DPS but less defense as well as you should use the avenger emblem and summoner emblem.

Hey there, how early in the game can I do a mage-summoner hybrid run? What would be the progression in your opinion? Or should I just only focus on either mage or summoner till the hybrid build is viable later?

For empress of light during day you could change last two accessories to increase dps. Damage reduction is useless when she hits about 67k :)
