This is actually my single favorite mage weapon. Just its strength is so nice, and its perfect for being able to fight and run without having to worry. It's my weapon of choice until i'm able to beat Duke Fishron and get the Razorblade Typhoon. I'm glad this weapon is getting some recognition!

Pre-mech Duke fishron really isn't too bad as long as you have some experience fighting it and use good mobility accessories (frog leg + balloon gives you *crazy* vertical movement)

I actually used this in my most recent mage playthrough to defeat master mode duke fishron pre mech! Very powerful weapon with a glass cannon build :)

This weapon is arguably the best pre-Mech weapon (not counting Duke Fishron drops). Can shred any bosses within the rages till Golem.

For items like these that require beating tough enemies I feel its important to remember that just because you can get something at a certain point doesn’t mean you should always go for it at that point, the Spirit Flame is really good but the Sand Elemental and Desert Spirits can be tough, I’d advise going for it around the time that you’re able to take down a mechanical boss or even after because the Spirit Flame can be very useful even for Plantera and maybe even golem, same goes for the Forbidden and Frost armor depending on your equipment

In a similar vein, I discovered in my recent playthrough how good Toxicarp is. It just shreds groups of early HM enemies; super easy to get, high damage, high rate of fire, no mana or ammo... criminally overlooked IMHO.

They have to make an item to spawn the sandstorms and snowstorms it's so hard getting the forbidden fragments i had to afk for 6 hours to get 6 fragments

or you could use the meteor staff which in my opinion is HIGHLY underrated as it deals with early hardmode bosses and enemys very easily. Its also not hard to obtain whatsoever only needing 20 meteorite, 10 pixie dust, and 10 souls of light.

Cover a Golf Cart Keys, its hidden, pre-hardmode gem,
- very fast acceleration makes it really maneuverable.
- its one of the mounts that deal dmg on contact and grant players the meele invincibility frames, but unlike others, it doesnt need to be at full speed.
Often causes player to ignore the meele damage from bosses
- together with bundle of ballons its great replacement for both wings and running boots. 1>2

the EoL one with that lantern is also amazing, and its basically an upgrade to this one

spirit flame is my fav mage weapon, its homing, looks rlly cool and the way to grind it is unique and fun

When the armors and the weapon came out. Me and my bro LITERALLY didnt swap it out til we killed the moonlord. He was rocking a mage set-up, i was rocking a summoner set-up. Idk if it got nerfed since, but holy smokes it was fun and strong.
