The +17% additive damage boost doesn't even remotely make up for having 4 less minion slots, not even close. The DPS with that build is just low and shouldn't be used if one looks for DPS. Why is Hercules Beetle recommended to increase minion slots when it doesn't even increase minion slots in reality? Why is Kaleidoscope specified as being the only whip one should use, when stacking with Dark Harvest and/or Morning Star provides significant increases in DPS? If you're having trouble as a Summoner in endgame, DON'T try this build and I promise you WILL be disappointed & see your DPS sharply decrease compared to Spooky Armor, Tiki Armor or actual proper hybrid Summoner setups in general.

If you want to prove that this is the "GREATEST summoner armor build you could possibly use endgame", then go ahead and kill Empress of Light on Master Mode in under 25 seconds with that pre-moon lord build. Spooky Armor can do it in under 20 seconds.

honestly the 20 extra defense is basically useless in expert and above. Tiki armor's safer whip use with Morning star with Dark Harvest's buff allows for better CC and constant application of your flasks. If you don't like whips the 2 extra summons for spooky can be argued to be more valuable than the 17% damage buff, especially when using something like the Xeno Staff.

Sir this build for the summoner class loadout is not good, this build sacrifices summons for increased survivability which is horrible for summoners, summoner is not like the other classes theres a reason why summoner most commonly consider as a glass cannon class, sacrificing minion slots for more sentry slots, more def and more damage is not that good in practice it might sound good in paper but in actually is not good, you basically sacrificed the insane dps that summoner normally dishes out for what increased survivability, sure it can help you survive one more hit but is it really worth it to sacrifice your insane dps for one more hit, and this is all coming from a summoner class main

the whole point of the summoner class is to not get hit and to focus urself on dodging so the extra surviviability isnt negligible. also +4 minion slots is better than a 17% damage increase cause more minions = more damage (most the time)

IDK, I feel like damage is MUCH more important than survivability

I am probably ready to sacrifice that 20 def even for just one extra minion slot

And 2 sentry slots are not as convenient to use as minipn slots

I've beaten master mode as summoner 3 times, once in the zenith seed. Spooky armor is way better than this hybrid set. Summoners survivability is in dodging and ending fights which you'll do faster with the extra minions.

I think to make up for the whole problem with summoner defense, redigit should make pets deal summon damage, as well as all mounts. I'd like to think that's what the heart frog colored accessory is for in the update spoiler. If it's not, that's ok :3

Idk, I used to think defense was gonna be the better option always, I liked being tanky, but after I tried out some huge dps builds, I found it so much better than I excpected, and also way more fun, cuz seeing everything just being obliterated in my screen was an amazing feeling

it does way less damage because those +4 minions also get the damage buff from the spooky armor

pretending you only have 1 minion slot:
custom armor: 1 minion + 75% = total 175% (compared to 1 minion no buffs)
spooky armor: 1 minion + 4 minions (due to the armor buff) + 58% damage for each minion = total 925% (compared to 1 minion no buffs)

yes your custom armor gets more scaling but even if you have 23 base minions you do barely less damage than the spooky armor (considering both get 23 base minions and spooky armor gets +4 cuz of the armor buff)

yea you can get more survivability but you're sacrificing a LOT of damage unless you somehow can get up to 24 minions it's not worth it

I was having trouble trying to beat moon lord as a summoner because he was killing me in two shots. Then I tried your armor combined with the eye socket technique and it worked like a charm. And this armor with the lunar portal staff obliterates anything.

This armor helped me beat the moon lord on classic for the very first time, though I do think that a lot of my damage came from my daybreak after destroying the eyes!

The entire point of summoner is to make your LSD warrior avoid everything while your psychedelic swords take your enemies to hell

If we’re just going off the sets with no other buffs, would the 4 extra minions not technically already be a 400% damage bonus? Not sure about invincibility frames but if you’re looking for damage I would still stick with spooky armor. If you are just absolutely abysmal at dodging maybe the other set would help a little but I think the amount of extra damage you get by having 4 more minions is just way better. After all, the faster you kill the boss, the less it can hit you. Plus the defense doesn’t do much at all especially because you have 2 more required bosses to beat by the point you can get spooky armor, that extra 20 defense is doing literally nothing.

Could've done a dps test to show exactly howuch better is it than the spooky Armor/ tiki Armor build. We're sacrificing 4 dang minions here. That's a lot in terms of dps.

Would argue to slap on the squire helmet and hallowed leggings and ball with some melee weapons and sharpening buff since it also applies to minions and sentries

This advice is just so bad. If you don't want to get +4 minion slots and are desperate for boosting your defence, just go full melee/summoner hybrid build and get some melee dps to pad your lower minion dps. This build has terrible dps and terrible survivability.
