Right on. When I add one solo fish; it’s always been an issue. However, when I add two at the same time, much more success.

I’ve found that blacking out the tank and moving rocks around works well for me. Good video dude!

Good topic going to add 3 fish that I've been quarantine for 3 weeks so I will do a big water change then add the new fish to reduce aggression.

Hello. Great video. I have some African cichlid since last 6 months in a tank. I have brought new African cichlid today. Now I want to add my old and new cichlid into a new bigger tank. How can I do it? New cichlid is around 2inches and older ones are around 5inches.

Hey Zenzo, great tips and advice. I have tried those methods before as they are very similar to John Hudson. I really can’t add several at a time since I am close to being maxed out, but I do feed the fish well, and then leave the tank, including the room, in total darkness as I add the new arrivals. Thanks very much for sharing. I enjoyed it as usual

I made the mistake of removing my large Protomelas (R. Empress) because he was getting really really fired up . I think he caused the death of my Bi Color 500 so I removed him. Of course another fish took the position. I eventually reintroduced the empress.., I created WW3 in my 125g! It was distressing. They got thru it and the Empress is back on top and peace eventually resided. I seriously draped the tank with a thick blanket like people do with birds. (Ah ha, You just mentioned the blanket technique so I guess I’m not the only one who does this) It worked as they all settled down for the moment and within 1/2 a day they settled completely(relatively, of course as there is always some chasing going on with a peacock/hap setup) . Luckily we made it through with No seriously damaged fish . The smaller guys pretty much hid until the dragon blood, Venustus, fryeri, and Empress worked it out.

Hey Zenzo great video and advice. The method I use which has been working for me is i feed my fish flakes and add the new guy in while the lights are off. All the fish are distracted and the new guy sneeks in the tank.

I’ve got a 55 gallon aquarium and one female yellow with black stripes cichlid that is dark in color now and it’s about 4 inches long also I have two synodontis catfish that are about the same size. Would it be a good idea to introduce four or five African cichlids to the aquarium after moving things around? The cichlids that I want to add are about the same size

1st! I have that catfish and he is my new smaller catfish killer. Wish he wouldn't so next ones I get will have to be larger, mine isn't as active as that he comes out when it's really dark and torpedoes around for a bit and hides again

Great video, info very helpful. Speaking of size, how long does it take cichlids to reach full size. My tank is 60% Mbuna and 40 Haps?
