Nubians and Sudanese have a very melodic way in reciting the Qur'an, it just touches my heart. May Allah (SWT) bless our ummah.

Now that is some serious memorization!

That fact that blew me away was not the memorisation. But that the tune is improvised spontaneously in the moment.

Edit: 1k likes! Cheers

Depending on what is being recited and the meaning of the verse, the reciter might end up crying, reflecting the seriousness of the verses. Often, when certain verses are read, they touch the heart to the point where a reciter is unable to continue until they take a few seconds to gather themselves.

Whenever the verse touches a deep scar it's effect can manifest into tears. This is not some holly spirit possession mumbojumbo, this is mindful understanding of the deep meanings of the words.

I am currently memorizing the Quran. I am almost done memorizing it actually!
It usually takes 2 and a half year of full time studying to finish.
Very blessed endeavor 💛

While I'm not a Muslim I respect all the effort these young people put into not ony memorising that giant book and learning all the different pronunciation rules but also having to learn enough to make up melodies on the spot.

I always thought the melodies of the Qur'an were somehow how set or predetermined by tradition. I had no idea they were improvised by the reciter!

Even the melody have its rules, it cannot be improvised in the moment, they use different "maqamat" according to the beginning, the end of the verse and its meaning in order to convey the intended message

This is a great video! You're letting the people whose culture and book you're describing do the educating! Well done, thank you for teaching me something.

It’s so good because back then there would be a point to doing this, so u could dedicate every waking second to perfecting your memorisation of what u deemed the most important text that’s ever existed
