Houdini & Unreal Engine Tutorial: Quickly Export From Houdini to UE5

Показать описание
This is a quick tutorial on how to easily bring assets from Houdini to Unreal Engine 5 using the Houdini Engine plugin.

Houdini Version used was 19.5.640
Unreal Engine Version used was 5.2

Currently this does not support animated geometry or cameras.
Hopefully SideFX or Epic can give us something similar to the Datasmith plugin that exists for C4D or 3DS Max for Houdini in the future.

How to Install the Houdini Engine:

Unreal Engine 5 and above requires you to import the HoudiniEngine directory that exists in the C:\Program Files\Side Effects Software\Houdini Engine\Unreal\19.5.x\5.x path on Windows into your Plugins folder of your Unreal project directory.

Thanks. For who is interested in exporting different objects in a single geo node: to assign name to pieces use an attributecreate, Name:unreal_output_name Class:Primitive Type:String String:nametoassignforunreal then use a mergepacked node to link these pieces and in unreal houdini sync use the path to the mergepacked node.

So is this is a better faster workflow, than using FBX, when you want to import things, but maybe your colleagues doesn't want or have Houdini licenses? Thinking, do I need to go "Fetch" every time to update, and can you save this Houdini file?

Cool. Does this work with simulations as well, or only for static objects?
