I’m so thankful for the wisdom that my mom imparted to me so many years ago. My mom is a wise, beautiful, youthful energetic woman who can outrun pretty much everyone in the house! One day when I was feeling unbalanced due to lack of sleep, I spoke with her telling her how I was incredibly sleep deprived. Expecting to hear some advice on how to sleep more or how awful my life was because I had a lack of sleep; she instead surprised me by saying. “Caroline, don’t stress or even think about this! If you don’t sleep well one night, you will sleep well the next!” I realized that thinking about sleep or the lack of sleep that I was getting was simply an unnecessary worry.
Truthfully, I have noticed that when there are days that I miss sleep, I am certainly tired the next day. However, when I do finally crash in bed, I notice that I’m much more refreshed the next day. I’m also able to hit the pillow and not remember anything else. Which usually never happens, because, sometimes I feel like I have to have all the stars in alignment to get to sleep.
One thing that I mention in this video is that for me it is more important that I finish everything that needed to be done prior to going to bed. This is because if things are left undone, I am thinking about the things I didn’t finish as I’m going to sleep. I guess this makes me feel sort of like a failure in one way or another. I know that is not the truth, it is just the way I feel…
However, when I just plow through and finish what I needed to finish. My head hits the pillow with happiness and I’m feeling very blissful and sleep very deep.
With regards to sleep medications. Although every medication certainly has a time and place, you may want to rethink taking something for sleep because researchers are finding that taking medications to help you sleep in the long run can cause more problems than not sleeping as much. So essentially, in the long run it is better to get 5 hours of sleep per night, than to take a medication for sleep and get 8.
I really hope you liked this video! If you did, please give it a thumbs up!
See you next Monday!
xoxo
