20 Greatest Archaeological Discoveries of 2024

There have certainly been some years in history in which archaeology has had an especially significant time. Like perhaps 1922, when Tutankhamen’s tomb was discovered, or perhaps 1985 when the wreck of the Titanic was finally located, or perhaps even 1946 when the Dead Sea Scrolls began to surface. But 2024….? Well, who can possibly say. There have been some historical finds but, as yet - and there is still time - 2024 may not go down in history as the greatest in Archaeology…. SO, without further ado, here are 20 Greatest Archaeological Discoveries of 2024. Stick around, because we are going to find out what the Ancient Romans drank…..

The Dodecahedron was used for divination.. Clay or wooden discs of varying thickness and diameters each inscribed with a possible course of action, would be put inside. The device would be rolled across a flat surface until a disc emerged, indicating what to do. The smaller discs could only be selected from small holes because their thickness prevented them from being selected through larger holes. The knobs on the corners controlled whether a thick or thin disc could remain when the device was rolled.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the Dodecahedrons were either religious, scientific or both. I’m assuming they’ve been found all over and separate from other artifacts. They look to be made of metal so they would’ve been of some significance to be made and cherished by many of the time. As someone who’s attempted to hand make sculptural sacred geometrical forms I can attest that it’s extremely difficult unless you are intelligent and efficient enough to have the patience to create it, you need almost perfect precision and extensive knowledge of the material used. So the likelihood of these artifacts being nothing but fun toys feels unlikely to me.

It was provided a few year ago that these particular ubiquitous Dodecahedrons. Peculiar little nobs on every point notwithstanding, & of all shapes sizes, no less. Going so far in mysterious clues as to be found in practically every manner of home from impoverished to upperclass. Yes! Ladies and Germ's! They were found to provide a perfect LOOM FOR MAKING WOOL GLOVES!
I guess this FACT did not fit into the typical square shaped query going round the minds of men. 🤔? It' is funny because I actually saw this proven. Like wood and ornamentation, hair, etc. Wool gloves do not typically last the 1or 2 seasons, let alone a millennium. Why would there have been an explanation of in stone of what a checkerboard was for today? Let alone one for why everyone needed a pair of warm gloves? 🙄 The little ones stopped at child gloves sizes! The largest one of these peculiar Dodecahedrons stopped at sizes perfectly befitting that of large hand an adult man.
These square headed men turned to the weavers who proved this theory and said, You have only shown one possibility, you have provided no substantive proof that that is what these items were used for and besides none of you have a degree in ancient archaeology. And soooo, despite overwhelming circumstantial evidence, BTW in case you are late to the game, all evidence is circumstantial evidence. To be otherwise is to suggest there is no need for a court case at all. Slam dunk. Such as confession. Caught red handed in front of Judge and two officers of the judges court. Etc.
