I have a 4l60e transmission in my Chevy Silverado. I had a shift solenoid go out. When researching solenoid repairs I found out about Corvette Servos. I changed out all 4 solenoids, changed the filter, changed the fluid, and put a Corvette Servo in. What a huge difference. No more lag from 2nd to 3rd which was a big problem before the shift solenoid went out. Highly recommend doing this upgrade.

This is a fantastic upgrade for any stock 4l60e. You get a bump in the 1-2 shift, but its meant to fix the lazy 2-3 shift. Makes the 2nd gear band release quicker and it doesnt fight the 3/4 clutches, which saves the 3-4 clutch pack. Great for performance, towing, or even lifted applications.

I can see a lot of confusion here. That servo applies pressure to the band which applies in 2 and OD. The corvette servo has a bigger diameter apply piston. Therefore it applies more pressure to the band. In other words you will see a firmer shift in second due to increased pressure/less slip. The main problem with that transmission is the 3-4 clutch pack. This is a good upgrade during an overhaul, (along with many others) but it will do very little to increase the life of this transmission in most cases. I am not saying don't do it, I am just trying to keep expectations in line with reality.

This is a must for anyone running a 4l60/65. First mod I did on a few trucks I’ve had in the past.

nice install! If you are like most of us, lying on your back, when you install this triple check that snap ring. Even use a little mirror. Plenty of people have ruined their core by having that servo shoot out and breaking the lip off because the snap ring was not seated in all the way around.

Those seals on the old servo are split style seals. Perfectly normal what you saw there. Great video for DIYers! Keep it up!

I have a 05 cateye with 236, 000 miles on it. I installed the corvett servo a little over 100, 000 miles ago. The stock 4l60 is still running strong with the factory lm7 with a custom tune and 3.42's on 33in tires. I just got back from a 2500 mile trip to Colorado with a horse trailer and 2 horses full of tack and feed. The truck did great I averaged 12 mpg and the trans temp never got over 205 degrees in the mountains of New Mexico. The cateye was the smallest and only truck on the trip with several new truck all brands that didn't have a check engine light on the entire trip.

Did this same mod on my old chevy truck. Night and day difference in shift feel...loved it

Great part to upgrade for a stock 4L60E. Another great idea would to install an additional trans cooler in line with the radiator return line as it helps keep things lasting a bit longer. When you dig into the trans (because you will with one of these), I'd recommend doing either the 4L65E upgrade or going with a 4L80E trans.

To help service your transmission you could add a dorman trans pan it has a drain plug so you can change your trans fluid very easy I put one on my 04 4l60 trans while I had the pan off I changed out the two shift solenoids very easy to do ordered them off Amazon did it all for less than a 100$ fluid included used the factory ac Delco shift solenoids and sentheic ac Delco trans fluid helped a lot shifts so much smoother now

The best in vehicle install I've found. Mahalo!
For my 2004 Colorado inline 5, I had to remove the crossmember and lower the transmission to get the servo back in due to clearance issues with the floorpan. stock exhaust.

Everyone talking about the lazy shifting, but chevy had a bulletin back in the day, while towing, put in towhaul mode, and manually shift 1, 2, 3 but dont go in D. Its the "technical" way of driving these trucks. And high rpms!!

After my cam/header install and tune this is the one thing I forgot about!!!! Still have it on my garage shelf, found next weekends project!

Justin @ black baer said my 06 Vmax had a slip in the 1-2 shift when I had him tune it, when I bought the truck in 08. Had a local transmission shop install the corvette servo and haven't had an issue with the transmission in the 15 years and 125K miles I've owned it.

3:49 mine was definitely a little more than tighter. I had to drop the crossmember in the transmission a little bit to get it, but I got it and it’s good. I just wanna thank you for turning me on to this Corvette servo.

Another couple good things to do these is aluminum accumulator pistons a stiff spring in the 1-2 accumulator and blocking off the 4 gear accumulator with two pistons stacked back to back and shift kits like trans go where they have enlarge the feed hole in the Vavle body separator plate if you feel comfortable doing that kinda stuff it’s super easy and trans go gives step by step instructions

The BEST BANG FO BUCK upgrade i ever bought for any vehicle was a ELECTRONIC tranny mod for 97F150
it was also about 60 bucks and installed with 3 wires in less than an hour and it gave a great upgrade in street mode to shifts and in strip mode you wouldnt wanna have a neck injury and drive it hard cuz it was that crisp and almost harsh at WOT

I know very little about auto transmissions. But my 4l60e on my '05 Yukon XL crapped out a few years back. Over 200k on it. I had a local shop rebuil it, and I told them to spare no expense. Now it shifts smooth when I'm being gentle and really smacks the gears when I'm stepping on it. The downshifts are fast and smooth, too. I've got some 37's and a 4 inch lift currently. The T case hasn't blown yet, nor has the rear end.
