Folding Firebox 5' (2nd Gen) | Try-out & First Impressions | Campfire Steak

In this video, I unbox and try out my brand new Folding Firebox Stove (2nd Gen 5-inch version ).

I am looking to also use this for my Trangia spirit burner but having a quality-made box for contained fires is what I’ve been after for a while now. It will be making appearances in future videos no doubt!

I bought this in the UK from The Bushcraft Store:

Many thanks for watching,

Ben

Looks good. I have a Bushbox LF. One of my fave and most used bit of outdoor kit. These type of stoves are so versatile and well made. Happy cooking 😀

That is so cool...and really gets going when it is lite...you seem able to pack a bit of wood in it too...thanks so much for bringing it to my attention....

Can’t go wrong with that stove. I’ve watched ton of “reviews” of the Firebox and Bushcraft Essentials XL and I think I’m going to get the Firebox like you. Too many people have had their XL warp after a short time using it. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.

Nicely filmed mate, can’t beat a fire in that or the Bushbox 👍🏼👍🏼

Nice first look mate. I have the Bushbox xl and love it. They are very well built. That looks like it’ll last a long time too 👍

Thanks for the review Ben, a nice little firebox, a bit too heavy for my liking but a fair bit of kit. ATB.

Looks a quality bit of kit that mate and a nice first use too, that steak looked very nice, I've got the bushbox XL, had it months and still not used it, similar price paid to you and the pouch is very similar too, all the best 👍🔥

Nice one Ben, the Swedish torch style of fire works really well in those stoves, I've done it a few times in my bushbox LF.
I have been very tempted to get one of those. The thing is that I've got so many stoves already, I'm beginning to think that I may be a stoveaholic!

Looks really useful. I have cheaper one which is ok but I know what you mean about fiddly to put together. I think I’ve mastered it now but we’ll see how long it lasts. It’s usually best to buy quality in beginning but when trying something new you are not sure if you will use it often. I’m definitely hooked using my firebox and the hammock now. Thanks for sharing. 👍🇬🇧😄

Nice initial impressions video. Only thing I don’t like is how damn heavy they are (I have a steel bushbox xl). That said, when weight is not a concern, I think they’re fun and useful kit. Also, if it was cold and I wanted a fire, I’d probably appreciate the ease with which one could be made and therefore think the weight worth it - will hopefully put that to the test sometime in the not too distant future! Have you used the Solo gasifier Stove? Would be interested in a comparison of the two

Try the grill attachment. And if the weight bugs ya, try the titanium version. It’s a bit pricey but it’s literally half the weight. And a windscreen helps a bit in the wind. Sweet stove you’re gonna dig it

Nice one! I'd be interested in a longer term review particularly around the effect of the fire on the metal. Does it fold back well or is it warped?

What have you got that firebox stood on? Last time I fired up my stove, I damaged the grass 🥴

I do like the fireboxes. But I went for a cheaper Lixada one. The quality of your one is evident; it takes me a few minutes and some bleeding fingers to set mine up, but I just can't bring myself to spend £70. I'll just keep buying plasters 👩‍⚕️🏥😄. Anyway nice vid 👍

Hi Ben they really are a magnificent bit of kit. I've had mine almost two years now and I wouldn't be without it, definitely one of the best purchases I've made.
I've used it on stealth camps. For making brews in the woods and cooked lots of meals over it. I've even had a bit of an accident with it that you can see in this video. And not one problem with it, it's still going strong. You have definitely bought something that will last a lifetime. Atb, Garry.

You should go more farer from your tent to make sure you do not burn down your tent
