Fire Box 5 inch G2 Folding Wood Stove Review..Camp Stove? Hike Stove?

Показать описание
5″ G2 Firebox available in Stainless Steel (heavy and bombproof) or Titanium (lighter and more expensive) version. I bought the stainless steel version for car camping and relatively short hikes. I would love the lighter Titanium version for longer hikes. I found the boil plate worked really well with the alcohol burner. My boil times are always approximate and I never take them serious as I am not in a Lab environment.

I didn't mention this apart from visuals but this needs to be emphasised that the stove is MADE IN THE USA.

MULTI FUEL – Wood, Gas Burner, any Alcohol Burner, Fuel Tabs, Gel Fuels, Charcoal Briquettes, or Sterno cans can all be used. Options to accommodate any situation or preference.

Stainless / Titanium Deluxe Combo Kit Includes: 5” G2 Firebox Stove, Ash Pan, Canvas Bag, 4 Firesticks, Extended Grill Plate (great for a steak or piece of fish), Grill Plate (fits a hamburger patty), Boil Plate (converts the stove into a boiling system for use with space saver cups and 40 oz. Stainless Steel water bottles) and Adjustable Fire Grate (for burning wood pellets closer to the pan or charcoal closer to the grill). Choice of Case: Black D-Ring Stove Case (made of double layer 500 wt abrasion resistant nylon constructed without a seam at the bottom to make this the most durable stove case on the market) OR the Leather Case for the Original 5” Firebox (premium hand stitched case is made of genuine top grain cowhide which gains character and style with use. It has plenty of room for the 5″ Folding Firebox Stove, including all of the available accessory plates), and a cotton case liner to keep everything clean and tidy.

Titanium VS Stainless Steel: Stainless Steel (SS) is the heavy duty option, basically bomb proof. If you like big over the top fires, long into the night, I would recommend the SS 5” G2 Firebox (all alloys of SS loose corrosion resistant through wood fire temps. maintain corrosion resistance easily with a light coat of oil between uses). Titanium (Ti) is 40% lighter, (5” G2 Firebox Stove is basically half the weight) corrosion proof and cools down fast. If you’re carrying your gear on your back and are focused on cooking you’ll be glad to have a 5” Ti Stove (Panel adjustments may be needed, easily done by hand).

Not a criticism just One bit of advice I would give would be to remove the grill plate unless you have food on it absorbing heat out of it. Especially with the heat of a flaming fire versus hot coals. Example would be when you were letting the flames die down before placing your steak. You probably could have put your steak on which would have been quite hot for the steak but you could have turned it frequently to prevent burning. Having the steak on the grill would have absorbed heat out of the grill to prevent overheating the stainless steel of the extended grill plate.
You did an excellent job on every level! Especially considering your limited experience with your Firebox gear 👍😎

I own all of the Firebox stoves that have ever been offered. They are well made and they absolutely work.

I really appreciate your posting this video. Received the same stainless steel Firebox Deluxe Combo Kit just yesterday as a birthday gift. So I am grateful for all the tips you included in your demonstration. I cooked my lunch using the stove / Trangia setup with fantastic results. Looking very forward to cooking over a wood fire next. Best to you from central Indiana, USA.

I had the g2 looong ago it feels like. The greatest camping stove in my mind... Lost it a couple years back, I think I loaned it to a "friend" while drunk... Ehhh well. Just gave up hoping it would show back up and ordered another one. If it does 2 would be better than one anyway. Great video. Cool edits

Try splitting wood into quarters and place them inside out into the corners of the stove for a Swedish Torch style of fire 😊

Il manquait la moutarde de Dijon avec la viande .🇫🇷. Intéressant ce réchaud.
