Steam Deck: OLED vs LCD (Don't buy the LCD Model)

If you look up The Phawx channel here on YouTube, about a week ago he uploaded a video where he goes into detail as to why there is that difference in performance between the two at the lower wattages. In essence, that TDP value is sort of an average and OLED Deck's APU is a bit more effective at keeping itself at the target TDP, whereas when you put LCD Deck at 5 watts, it draws a bit more power and for longer periods of time. In simpler terms, LCD Deck's TDP of 5W is rough equal to OLED Deck's 7W. I suggest that you watch The Phawx's video for better explanation and more details

You can easily adjust the colors on the lcd with decky. It’s not the worst thing in the world. But yeah Oled is better

PS VITA had OLED in year 2011, and i wonder why it took 12 years before handhelds suddenly got OLED hype.

I got mine yesterday too! I totally agree with you. You just can't see it on the camera but when you see it in real life it's just crazy how much better the OLED is!
I'm loving it!

I think the frame limit might have something to do with the performance difference. Should set both to 60. OLED might be drawing more due to 90 frame limit setup

Idk if you'd care enough to spend the money on it at this point, but they make a controller that's shaped similar to the deck for the switch. Just thought maybe that would be most helpful for you. I think it's called Nitro Deck, but I'm not sure.

before i upgrade to a oled i’ll get the legion pro tbh but the lcd is fine for me doesn’t look bad especially when i dock it to my oled monitor lol buy what you want people

If I watch this video on my steam deck LCD the LCD looks bad and the oled looks great. Explain to me how my lcd steam deck is capable of displaying the greatness of the oled screen?!?

Wow what a difference! Havent goten a deck yet and LCD is so much cheaper now its a good steal...then can just wait for Steam Deck 2, practice more delayed gratification
