I'm not sure when I began hearing voices but when I was able to get on medication my worries diminished and I was finally able to concentrate on the issue at hand.
My understanding is that you need to speak to the voices inorder to understand that you either consciously or subconsciously responsible for what's being said.
Think about the best way to tell a child that there is no imaginary friend.
But they can hear and interact with it just as if it was real, hearing voices falls within the same range.
And no, people wouldn't do this on purpose, trying to go through life without thinking is hard enough and to those that have been anything that distracts the mind is a god send.
The information the voices relay are pure front and back thoughts mixed with the feeling your experiencing, you may not show that you're upset but you are. The voices are you so they sound upset or agitated. Especially when you mix hurt full words with raw emotions, it's you calling yourself stupid or an asshole. Whatever you think it they will say and if your upset it seems like they're aiming those negative sounding/feeling words directly to you but they're not because it's you talking to yourself.
Here's a little saying that has brought me comfort during bad
"There isn't anyone else in you're head!"
This statement is a absolute and unchanging fact, some of us just need a reminder.
And yes, I heard this from a voice in my your not hearing voices in your head.

Mine switched off one day for about 10 seconds before switching back on. I had the overwhelming feeling that someone, somewhere had flipped the wrong switch.

I have them, voices. I'm NOT schizophrenic nor did I ever had a psychoses. I'm mentally stable and I feel good about myself (I love who I am). I also have real life time friends, and never feel alone (I know these people since I was a teenager, now I'm 47).

I can also talk to them (my voices), just as I can talk to any of you. I have had whole discussions with them about lots of different topics. My voices are consistent in terms of how they sound and who they are. They seem to have there own personality! I hear 2 (a women and a man), and they never try to make me do anything negative or command me in any sort of way. It's almost like having two friends in my head... I've had this for years (4 years) and still think it's weird and odd. Once I decided to talked to professionals about this. They also thought my case is a bit odd since I'm not paranoid or did I ever loose contact with reality. I'm just an other human being with no special powers. I was surprised when that question was asked "Do you have any special powers".

I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia for hearing voices and being severely depressed, spent a few months in hospitals and meds but Ayahuasca has helped me the most.
Recommend it for anyone suffering from it or hearing voices.
Wish you the best and much LOVE.

Do some people feel like the voices control their walking steps, facial movements, and moods? Do the voices seem to cause physical pains on the body? Do they make you feel like throwing up?

I live near an old crazy home from the 20's, I walk by it when going to the store. My dogs would act funny at times and I started recording with my phone and you could hear a woman's voice, only on the video. Now I can hear the same voice without my phone. She's always calling me over to her. Been getting harder to tolerate and starting to freak me out. It's not a voice in my head it comes from a direction. What's crazy is my dogs react to this voice. If wasn't for my dogs id think I was going insane.

Hearing voices is actually not a brain anything it is absolutely an independent issue that should be looked at as such

I got shocked by a old 60s TV set through the wall outlet in a old runed down house and heard frequencies and sound patterns and developed schizophrenia. I can hear some lady talking in my left ear it can't move to the right ear for some reason.

At last, someone who acknowledges the spiritual dimension of hearing voices in our heads. Spirits can talk to us telepathically, or can alter our speech to mean something else. Samples in the Bible are the Tower of Babel, where human speech was diversified and Paul on the way to Damascus, hearing Jesus Christ, while his companions heard only the sound of thunder.

I always hear “go to the bathroom” I thought this was normal until I talked to my psychiatrist about it she said that those are possible early stages of schizophrenia but I just thought I was a normal thing like people say the term “hearing voices” or, “seeing things”.
