AI is over hyped, but it has existed in a crude form for about 40 years. I am retired now but I automated and optimized production. The "AI" doesn't need to be that smart. It only needs to do one thing better than most humans can do. George Carlin made a statement that is very true. "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that. - George Carlin"
What do you do with the lower 50%? The lower 50% will be a drain. The only hope is that different people have different skills and probably won't be in the lower 50% at everything. The problem is reduced to what do you do with those that are in the lower 50% at everything or the skill one is good at has no value.

I also worry about people trusting AI too much when AI can be programmed to mislead. Garbage in, garbage out will still apply.

Because of the "Defund the Police" movement, I can foresee the surveillance industry getting in bed with insurance companies. Namely, if you don't have x-amount of surveillance technologies within a certain area, you either have sky-high premiums or no coverage at all.

One interesting fact regarding the quotation at 4:08 is that the Luddites breaking the machines were not factory workers, but artisans being replaced by both the machines and factory workers. Transposed in the modern world, we should see the same reaction from doctors, accountants, etc.

As pervasive as AI will become, it seems VERY difficult to predict outcomes.
Hard currency (perhaps gold and silver coins), self-sufficiency (in all regards, on all fronts). Being proficient in, and having a LARGE assortment of, both offensive and defensive weapons with a willingness to use them. These will serve you well.

All good points and while the smaller countries with a saner cultural approach may with time transition to what the west is experiencing now, being higher on the mast of the sinking world ship is still better than being below the deck. And who knows, maybe by the time that happens some western countries will turn around and be livable again just like the eastern bloc having gone through a collapse is now a better place than the west.

Well, I don't believe in the "IA dystopia", everything that can improve productivity of work it's good to mankind. And We've seen that in the industrial revolution, even if in the beginning you lose jobs, you get new ones right after. And it will be the same again. We talk about social unrest, and we ignore that things like community jobs, building communities will be the jobs of the future. But in a strict sense Nomad Capitalist got a point: it will take time to balance society. And there's another thing: even if you're not a great programming engineer your knowledge can increase value in other countries like Colombia or Brazil.

My house got broken into. We caught the perp because we installed cameras in our house. I think people should install cameras in their home as long as they are the only who has access to it.
