As a citizen, the best thing to do is “move to the mountains!” Its best to not engage in the riots or the whole war in general. Before the civil war begins, pack your stuff and move to the mountains. Find a small neighborhood or cabin and live there until it’s safe. Animals everywhere up there which means you’ll be able to hunt rather than going to the grocery store with empty shelves. I think that the best solution if a civil war happens. Move to a cabin and don’t attempt to go into the cities or engage in the war. Simple as that🎉

So I don’t think there will be an “all out” military civil war in the US. But I definitely can see civil unrest and small groups taking shots at each other. This could escalate into small group conflicts and domestic terrorism.
It’s possible to have a break away state but it would be almost impossible to sustain this.
