6 & 9 and one in the middle. 2 on the door, 3 on the frame. 👍👍 simple 👍👍

I purchased Robin's hinge jig just a few weeks ago - certainly made it quicker and neater to hang a new door!

I actually don't mind mortising the hinges with a hammer and chisel, I find it quite satisfying. it's plaining the bloomin doors down to fit the wonky old aperture that I don't enjoy! Add in using reclaimed doors and it's all fun and games

Get your door fitting 1st with a nice gap all around in the frame, put a leading edge on both sides of the door, put your hinges on, then put the door back in the frame, I set the height using a 2p at the top of the door then inflate your winbag at the bottom of the door and the 2p gives the correct spacing at the top of the door, then mark your hinges on the frame and cut out 👍

Big Robin C fan, my favourite method of hinge fitting is another acquaintance of yours Tim, Ollie from Bradshaw Joinery. He has a brilliant video of how to make a jig super fast and fit. What makes it great is you can use it on non standard hinges 👍🏻

Really enjoyed that video, I wouldn't of had a clue where to start. On the subject of your hall light shades they look great I have the bigger version in one of our bedrooms. One of the lampshades doesn't have the velcro properly stuck down and it's really annoying because I'm trying to watch your door fitting but I'm totally focused on the light shade 🤣🤣

Uff. Just did 5 doors (including new liner/casing) with a hammer and chisel. Wish I had explored using something like this!

My confidence disappears when faced with jobs like this.

Guys, considered maybe changing your light shades in the hall way?

Perhaps some transparent glass shades would look much more the part and also do a much better job at illuminating the hall?

Unless of course, you're planning some Star Trek tribute nights, in which case you can stand under your current lights and shout, "beam me up scotty!"

You do know you can buy radius hinges that saves chopping the corners and speeds things up when you have lots of hinges to install?

Hammer and chisel all day for me with hinges, but i'm old school from 80's lol.

The Trend skeleton jig is much better, especially when you have a lot of doors to do. And it works with architrave on.

You put the hinge on wrong, it should be three knuckles on the lining, two on the door

Got a 9.5mm deep template bit here, is Robin's jig in 15mm mdf do you know??? It seems to work for the Trend 9.5mm bit, hopefully! Just a bit of info on the depth of the jig and depth of bit would be most helpful.

What was the anti-slam mechanism? Something fitted separately or some posh hinges I haven't seen before?

Little hinge jig takes 10 minutes to make, better still if your doors are all the same height make a storey rod hinge jig. I can’t believe people buy them
