No person, I have come to realise breaks your heart or has that power. It is US who broke our own hearts by ignoring the red flags, by handing over our power to someone who knows they could manipulate the situation.
We broke our own hearts because we believed in someone and something that actually didn’t exist as much as we hoped it did. We broke our own hearts by elevating someone and believing that our feelings, needs and expectations would be reciprocated. Sadly we were not the focus of their attention or desire.
