Climate change protesters from the Just Stop Oil campaign group threw soup at Vincent van Gogh’s painting "Sunflowers" on Friday at London's National Gallery, causing minor damage to the frame.

MORE: A video showed two women throwing two tins of tomato soup at the painting, one of five versions on display in museums and galleries around the world.

They then glued themselves to a wall.

"There is some minor damage to the frame, but the painting is unharmed," the gallery said in a statement.

Police said both women had been arrested for criminal damage and aggravated trespass.

It would be funny to just leave her there---stuck to the until she gets herself apart from the wall.

Throwing good food away while claiming Oil somehow is a threat? Without Oil Food could not be harvested nor delivered to those who need it! 3rd World Countries understand. Maybe she should move to areas in short supply of oil to see how they live in poverty!

If we had no oil then America would have to rely on electric cars that require strip mining for the metals in the batteries and that’s worse for the environment

making yourself an enemy to a group of that doesnt directly ruin the planet is redundant. They need to work on their rhetoric and read The Prince. Then read Hobbes and afterwards Discourse on Method. You don't make a change by just pissing people off and making yourself a target or victim, make a boogeyman out of your enemy and then show how they will come for the audience soon in as many sectors or aspects as possible.

The red hair gang in action, why they don't throw that soup to Klaus Schwab?

This is exactly what our educators’ fault, they teach only ideologies but failed to teach common sense and practical things. So it is not kids fault but our adults faulty, especially teachers, professors, writers, politicians(actually not that much because we all know they lie for a living), it’s mostly people we trust to provide information.

Why not use art to promote your message. Creation will speak louder than destruction. Though it is destruction that provokes instant attention it speaks louder when you achieve notoriety for your creations. Art changes the world❤

How did that painting hurt the climate? If they come to my gallery and do that, they'll be delbt with by me personally. Just to paint everyone a picture, I'm 7'5" and weigh 497lbs. I'd break each of them in half.

WHY????WHY VAN THEY USED A F*CKING CAN OF SOUP? gee, what other artist in history used a can of soup in a famous series of screen prints, 32 in all, with an overall amount of his entire work totaling over 9, 000 pieces, not including sketches, compared to Van Goghs 900 pieces he made in his tragic life? Why, in all the annals of art history, did they pick someone so victimized? Are they trying to compare him to Mother Earth? Or was he the most famous name they recognized and thought it would make more of an outcry?
Her holding up the Warhol-like Heinz’s soup can, wearing warped baggy Rockwell Americana styled blue jeans, and a white shirt with bold Barbara Kruger font that reads “Just Stop Oil”, and a Graffiti styled skull on the back, kneeling as a Romanticized martyr with her ingénue face held up looking like a model for a Classical study in portraiture, tomato soup plastered like a Pollock inspired Abstract splattered mess, on a famous Impressionistic piece, creates a photo that is clash of the old and modern and post-modern and what-ever-the-hell-we-are-now-ern, into a horrifying depiction of what we have all become…clichéd.
