South Korea has asked the US for a greater role in managing nuclear weapons amid North Korean threats. South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said his government is in talks with the US to introduce the concept of “joint planning and joint exercise”. He also said that the US’s stance is quite positive over this major policy shift among old allies.

An Asian version of NATO? Sounds like a good idea.
I grew up during the cold war, and I remember learning that "their" side was organized into the Warsaw Pact, while "our" side was organized into several different organizations similar to NATO, including SEATO, MEATO, ANZUS, and the Rio Treaty. There's a Wikipedia article about it titled Pactomania :-). I had remembered that all of our allies were in one or the other of these organizations, but I apparently remembered incorrectly. NEATO was proposed, but never actually came into existence. Maybe it's time, now.

It's important to note that relying solely on allies, especially the US, for protection may not always be the best strategy.
