I just discovered this & i think my husband has it. His mother warned me when we were engaged that if he doesn’t want to do something, he will fight for eight hours to keep from doing it. And I’ve often suspected he’s on the autism scale although he’s never been diagnosed. Thanks for bringing awareness about this.

I think ODD needs to be removed and relabeled as PDA. I wish I had known PDA when my daughter was little. It explains so so much!

I have Autism and I feel like nothing do matters at work and I'm tired of feeling that way, I've been there for a year and no one wants anything to do with me so i called my job coach and he's going to help me find a new job, I hate wasting my time with people who don't care.

yeah, so when someone tells me to do something i was willingly in the process of and it suddenly becomes as impossible as slamming my hand down on an exposed nail, i self diagnose PDA.

This is what I was married to. I thought it was simply an avoidant attachment.

So how do we get past it? Any tips? I was literally just talking to my daughter about wondering why I can't stand it when someone tells me to do something. I dont even understand it myself.

But how do I get over it so I can function in a job! I feel like I’m going insane. I don’t dislike anything about my work - it’s almost totally in alignment with - but there are events and talks in meant to facilitate soon and I’ve driven myself further and further away from work as a response and I can’t keep doing this

Never heard of this before. I think I might have it 😮
What do I do about? And how does it come about?

Wow, this is a thing? I thought it was just me being deeply flawed in yet another way.

I hate that I am the living embodyment of this...

I just sent this to my wife. After 25 years, I hope it helps her delivery.

Ok can u re explain this in regular plain English with examples and not use industry jargon that’s not easily digestible?

It's why everyone hates group projects in school classes.

Because the people who are diligent students are put in the unjust, unfair, Sophie's choice position of doing someone else's work to maintain their own grade while enabling the ones who don't do their part, or allowing the people who don't work to face accountability by sacrifing their own grade/GPA/eligibility.

As a society, we absolutely CANNOT allow this to become codified.

Can this gradually come on throughout life or is it something we are born with?
I resonate with PDA and although I suspect I have autism. I have been diagnosed with CPTSD, medically induced PTSD and BPD.
Also, what’s the difference between PDA and executive dysfunction?

Sounds like oppositional defiance to me.

what we need to do is stop putting these stupid terms out there bc dumb people will attach this into something that is completely normal and warp it in their minds by thinking they have a disorder. just because they found words to attach to a momentary feeling. obv if you have autism thats different. but ive seen people say adhd makes them autistic.. i have adhd and if you think adhd and autism are the same, then you need to get out of your emotional bubble and go to therapy.
