Struggling with Skipping Gears or Incorrect Shifts? Rear Derailleur Adjustment Made Easy!
If your rear gears don’t shift smoothly—like when one click in the lever doesn’t move the chain perfectly to the next cog—it’s time to adjust your rear derailleur.
In this video, I’ll guide you through a step-by-step process to ensure your gears are dialed in and shifting seamlessly.

Before starting, make sure there aren’t any other issues with your drivetrain. If you’re unsure why your gears are acting up, pause now and check out my troubleshooting video to rule out any underlying problems. Once everything checks out, grab your bike, tools, and let’s get to work.

I'll cover:

Properly securing the cable for precise shifts
Resetting the barrel adjuster for smooth cable tension
Fine-tuning the B-tension screw for optimal gear response
Adjusting indexing to get the chain moving smoothly on each click
This process is a lot easier with a work stand, so if you have one, it’ll be a huge help! And don’t worry if you're new to bike maintenance—by the end of this video, you’ll have the confidence to adjust your rear derailleur on your own.

Or to keep it simple just get friction shifters 😊. You can adjust on the fly. You can use the shifters with ANY RD or FD or ANY CASSETTE of any speed

Hi, your videos are at a good level for me. I have a problem with chain suck when I shift with the front derailleur, and the chain gets pulled up and wedged between the front chainring and the chainstay. I have a 2x8 drivetrain. Sometimes I have to disassemble the chain to get it out. This is damaging my frame and naturally it's a big inconvenience, so I'd be grateful if you could please do a video on causes and solutions for this problem.
