Don’t forget your waterproofs no matter the time of the year! Try local beers and try fresh seafood in Oben or I guess anywhere by the coast. Fresh mussels, oysters and even the fish and chips is way better than in London.

As a Scot I can confirm that a modern "small kilt" as depicted here is 100% a type of skirt, just like loafers are a type of shoe. The kilt in its skirt-style modern guise with pre-sewn pleats etc. is believed to have been invented in the 18th century by an Englishman, Thomas Rawlinson.

The whole "kilts aren't skirts" thing is just latent misogyny/homophobia.

No, don’t come to the highlands- at least not in droves. We don’t have the infrastructure, and frankly most highlanders are about as friendly as a cobra that’s just been set on fire. Scotland excels in whisky, tourism, golf and whinging incessantly.
