Golfer's Elbow can be a painful condition in the inside part of the elbow. It is also called Medial Epicondylitis. It is inflammation of the common flexor tendon where it attaches at the medial epicondyle of the elbow.
Golfer's Elbow can come from excessive stress or force on the common flexor tendon. This is a large tendon that has multiple muscles and tendons that attach to it and run down into the wrist and hand.
Golfer's Elbow can occur with golfing with heavy clubs or improper technique. It is also common in tennis players who use a lot of topspin with their forehand shot.
Ehren Allen, DPT, COMT of the Jacksonville Orthopaedic institute explains that Golfer's Elbow can be treated with Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation (R.I.C.E.). Physical or occupational therapy can help with Graston therapy, laser therapy, stretching, and strengthening.
Doctors may treat Golfer's Elbow with anti-inflammatory medications or injections. Surgery is rare for Golfer's Elbow.
