6G Inconel | MAX TIG Welding Procedure | F34, F4X !

6G Inconel, max TIG Welding Procedure F34, F4X ! Welder performance qualification with tig filler wire ER NiCrMo-3, Inconel refers to a group of specific nickel-chromium alloys used in different welding processes. Inconel is most commonly used in techniques that require a high heat tolerance. Welding Inconel can be rather difficult because the welds that are created have a tendency to crack.
6G position requires one pipe to be positioned at a 45-degree angle. This weld is considered the most challenging type of weld to perform because it requires welds that are made in all positions. The root process is a weave over a filler rod. Hot pass by getting the tow of the pool to the walls, protecting root.

All of my videos are recorded at working sites in various locations and in different welding positions.

How many amps were you running on the root? BTW you have some of the best videos for welding I've ever seen. Even though I've been doing welding, I always ask questions about it learning more than I did before. You're instruction is awesome and thank you for what you do.

Great job on the 625 as verified with the bends. Years ago while welding for Dow Chemical I developed the WPQR & WPS for Inconel 690 (high pressure/high temp) for Phenol service. After which I welded 400+ 2”xxhy-4”xxhy butt welds 75% in 5G position free-hand, balance rolled.(tells how long ago it was LOL) The 1st thing I learned with the nickel heavy material is I needed a “uniform keyhole” for a 100% root and I see the same as you put your root in. In Dow we welded to the ASME Codes and to the ANSI B31.3 for most piping. All Inconel 690 welds were radiographed 100% as per ANSI B31.3 “Severe Service” classification.

Inco is tough. I weld with it using an orbital welder and often have to make repairs. Thanks for this thorough video.

One of my best tips i ever got from an old boiler tube welder.. that wire moves you just cant see it.. keeping it clean is impossible in boilers so its rough

In the UK we often use argon with 2.5% or 5% hydrogen shield gas for inconel cleans the weld pool

I’m having a hard time with ER-Ni-1. Dam wire runs away from the puddle.

VERY good video. Beating lots of YouTube channels out there. Right in the test booth to the field work.

I welded some ERNi-1 today . Root was good but I did noticed that once it came down to the fillers it was a little dirty on the surface . It was ERNi-1 wire to carbon steel pipe

Izgleda odlično! Volio bi da doma imamo ovakav izbor metala... Prisiljen sam samo na inox i ugljični čelik:)

7:20 looks like you have some shoulder at one o'clock, but the rest looks fabulous. I took this test today and busted it for what they claimed was suck back. The lab that I test at is unforgiving, and only allow grinding once or maybe twice, outside only. No grinding in the booth.

I thought that you were supposed to dip the rod all the way around. My biggest problem came at the top quarter when I tried to seal up the gap. I did my hot and filler passes at 225 amps, but it was a super coupon. Was this too hot?

When you finished the root on the inconel, is it requiered to keep the purge on for the hot pass, fills and caps ? Great video
