6G Weld Test 6010 Root and 7018 Fill & Cap.
In this video, I will break out the steps on how to pass the 6G position test 6G using E6010 for open root and E7018 for fill and cap for the pipe welding certification. As per ASME Section IX, Qualification in the inclined fixed position which is 6G, shall qualify for all positions. The 6G certified welder certification is not easy to pass and requires a lot of practice and training. A fixed position means that once welding begins, the pipe cannot be rolled or moved. The welder has to weld all around the pipe in the same position. So, it basically covers flat, horizontal, vertical welding, and overhead in a single position.

None of these videos are recorded in a fancy shop surrounded by sponsorship banners!
All of my videos are recorded at working sites in various locations and different welding positions.
90% of my welding projects in videos are x-rayed, and if you like to see hands-on projects, welcome!

The double vision is not a big deal.. what I'd like to point out is the audio quality of your video. THANK YOU for being one of the few people to edit out the excessive noise, and chosing voiceover!

*👀Great video. Perhaps the Gentleman that commented that you would have failed because of excessive penetration did not watch the video to the end. The penetration (shown at the end of the video) looked well within specifications. You stated in the video that two face bends were done and two root bends were done. It appears in the video that four side bends were done. It has been my experience that coupons of this thickness are always subject to side bends not root and face bends. You can clearly see after the bend test that there are no grinder marks on top of the coupons where they were bent. After the bent coupons were placed on the table you can see that the grinder marks are on the side not where they were bent which shows they were subject to side bends. Just an observation. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos.*

I do my 2" sch 160 pipe test this coming Thursday. Ive put in a solid 3 weeks of practice. Still struggling a bit with being smooth and steady with the 7018.
Are you pushing or pullling the puddle on the 7018
And 2nd
How does one eliminate a bit of porosity here and there on the bottom. Im even striking my arc ahead and travel back to where i ended
Thank you

You’re killing it!! 👍 what is your day to day like — do you fitup or mainly weld or both? i’d be interested to see your process of fitting up pipe on the job and repairs that you do

Man, I always forget to ask you, as you are from Europe, what’s the difference from working in Europe as a welder from North America? Have you had different treatment there and did you also use all welding procedures like you are showing us here? I have plans to go to Germany so that’s why I’m asking.. Thanks man✊🏽

I’ve been welding downhill for 10+ years. Taking an uphill test soon. My starts on the bottom don’t want to tie in to the edges. Any tips?
