With touring tyres being some of the most popular as well as some of the most frequently purchased tyres on the market, we have tested 4 tyres from 4 premium tyre manufacturers to decide which is the best Summer Tyre for 2023. But which of the top premium tyres performs the best? Watch as Steve Sutcliffe both tests and analyzes the 4 different tyres in our BMW 320d test car.

Each tyre was tested in both wet as well as dry conditions to find out which was the overall winner of our Premium Summer Tyre 2023 test. The tyres are being tested for handling, braking, cornering and aquaplaning. The tyre size Steve tested was 225/45/R18, across all four tyres within the test.

Not a single word on comfort, noise, rolling resistance or durability, all extremely important aspects of a touring tyre. I expected a lot more from a specialized channel. I’m glad we have tyre reviews for that.

I also have the Turanza 6's all-round on my Audi A3 Etron and they are a great tyre-stable, quiet and they seem to eek out good mileage when in pure electric state and stunning MPG in hybrid or petrol modes (60-70 mpg average, even on long trips).

Comfort and noise are the most important, since not everyday we go for racing or drive above the speed limit.

I'm driving Conti PC7 and you have to drive it to belive it how good they are.... Absolute blast!

Bridgestone managed something really impressive with the Turanza6, because of all of the tyres reviewed here it has the less rolling resistance which directly translates to up to 10 % fuel saving, which at the end of the year is a hell of a lot of money, the difference in all the other characteristics compared to the competitors is very small, only wet braking can be a problem.

Please keep up the good work doing these video's, there aren't enough videos like these and I find them fascinating.

Road noise and comfort? Two very important categories

Comfort is very important to me. I can live with a tyre that is 0.2seconds slower round a track, if it doesn't break my back. But theres no information to this?

Just had Conti PC7 (235/45R18) fitted to my Tesla Model 3 after driving on Michelin PS4 for 2 ½ years (43, 000kms from new to tread limit). The Contis are absolutely better in every way than the Michelins.

Ive got turenza 6’s on my 2.0 cdti insignia, (225/55R17 XL)
amazing tyre. Fitted in august done 15, 000 on them in all weather and it is faultless.

If you push it beyond what it’s really meant for it still clings on and behaves predictably, when pushing it on fast direction changes, roundabouts etc.

Wet weather feels like its dry, ive hit some god awful standing water down here in cornwall at 50+ and it doesn’t even move the steering wheel.

When i first got them i tried seeing how far the limit was in the wet and gave up when it became apparent the speeds i would need to be doing were not going to be great for me when they did let go.

Tyre test on 225-45-18
But the footage seems to be of 17" wheels and tyres

I have the Pirelli's and I really love them. Please everybody, buy decent tyres so that both you and the ones surrounding you are safe. Cheap tyres offer cheap performance, always.

How come no Goodyear was tested, there a premium tyre manufacturer so should be in the test.

Michelin' Primacy 4+ s are worst tyres ever had in 41 years of motoring. Wore out in 8400 miles to bald and nearly killed me aquaplaning on motorway at 60mph when they still had plenty of tread. Just terrible.
I have / had expensive tyres (Goodyear F1, Conti 6 and now Bridgestone Touranza 6) on my E350D but they seem worse than the Landsail budgets that I had on my previous Jag in every way. They lasted forever, gripped well (never aquaplaned and felt secure in the wet) and were half the price.

Nice test, thanks.

I own an Alfa Giulia (300hp, 500 Nm torque), with the stock Continental EcoContact 6 that I hate (noise, aquaplaning).

I am still hesitating to replace them with one of these touring tyres, or with sport tyres (like Michelin PS5). I appreciate silence for sure, but do not want to degrade the driving pleasure I have with my current setup.

Would you have any recommendation please ?
