Apple Intelligence Hands On Review - Is AI Siri any good?

In this video, I'll explore Apple's new "Apple Intelligence" feature on the iPhone, which i've been testing in beta for a few days.

I compare it with older iPhone models and share my thoughts on what's impressive and what's lacking. You'll learn how to enable the beta, and i'll walk through some of my favorite updates, like email summaries, improved writing tools, and advanced photo search features.

I also test the latest Siri upgrade, which has a more natural voice but struggles with some tasks. Overall, there's potential, but i find Siri's capabilities still lacking.

Do people understand that it’s a beta and all the Siri features including personal context, on screen awareness and ChatGPT integrations which are the CORE FEATURES of the new Siri aren’t in the beta yet? The new Siri isn't active until iOS 18.4 early next year. What you're using now is simply dressed up original Siri.

Great vid. AI has totally flat footed Apple. They need more vision and cross functional integration. Till then I'll be skipping the new iPhones, it's just not worth it yet and we could be waiting 2-3 years for real integration.

To be honest I don’t see it doing much more on my phone than the regular Siri could do other than the photo thing and proofreading. I get that it’s beta and new but this and the useless camera button are what apple is trying to make the important features of the iPhone 16.

Siri is still quite disappointing. I'm not upgrading for this. Additionally, voice mode works on older phones and is better.

Two things: 1. This is a Beta which means Apple is still working out the details for Siri/Apple AI to work and correspond more accurately. 2. He initially stated that he's had his iPhone for 15 years and was not a big fan of Siri. He continued to say, "Umm can you do this?" or "Can you um...?" lastly "Umm... can you like open..." His communication with Siri was HUMAN ERROR. Dope video though. How about asking Siri questions pertaining to pop culture or history, this will show us the full capabilities of Siri/Apple AI.

hey so apple said siri isn't finished. I believe the GPT integration and new voice model arent coming in the initial apple intelligence update. This makes sense because everything you showed regarding the voice itself is exactly how siri works right now.
This is a beta anyway. OpenAI has been extremely slow with their own advanced voice so be patient with apple here (idk why they partnered if OpenAI clearly wasnt up to the task)

Siri has always been hot garbage. They apparently do not want to use a language model to power Siri because it's less predictable, but then you will always be stuck with something like this.

So far, it's only a marginal improvement. It still needs to be more interactive when asked questions. It will give you answers on the screen and not converse with you. I am using Beta on iPad.

When talking to Siri you sounded like my mom when she gets stuck talking to automated assistance on a phone call to a company.🙂

The worse thing to do in my opinion is to do a review of a beta version of iOS, especially since AI is being introduced for the first time. An explanation maybe but showing the flaws in a beta version seems counter productive, because it’s beta.
