I was going straight through an intersection and a car tried to turn in front of me, and they decided to angrily applaud me as I passed...it stuck with me all day for two reasons. They were in the wrong, but they were so sure that they were in the right that they felt like telling me I did something so extraordinarily stupid that I deserved applause.

It was brutal...

My husband always does this. He thinks it really gets into people’s minds to think about their choices rather than flipping them off and just getting them mad.

My husband and I also do the thumbs down in traffic and it's so freaking effective! 😂😂

I do this all the time. Because you’re not angry, you’re just disappointed and when you disappointed your father, it was way worse than making him angry.😂

I had a guy get mad at me for avoiding an accident and accidently cutting him off in the process. He started honking at me and flipping me off so I starting making a motion like rubbing your cheeks like when a kid cries. He hated that so much and got more aggressive but he had nothing to say to me as I kept doing it and telling him to keep crying for me as we pulled up to the same light together.

I also give people a thumbs down whilst driving. And yeah, it really does piss people off, but doesn't induce road rage. It's great

I've been doing this for years! you have to make sure your arm is out of the window so that everyone else sees too. it cuts way deeper than a middle finger.

I definitely have done this. As a Mom I have also nodded my heard NO and shook my finger like you would to a child being naughty. Like "Im very disappointed with you". 😂😂😂

I do this, a mom in a soccer van full of kids thumbs-downing your poor choices out the window is a sure-fire way to put someone in a full meltdown 😂😂

in a world where the thumbs down actually gets canceled to spare the feelings of terrible content creators and social media goblins, giving someone a thumbs down in real life actually hurts more than flipping someone off. it's hilarious to see people destroyed everytime my roommate does it to people in traffic.
