Great explainer vid. I had my second lot of steroid injections this afternoon, I work 9-5 each day typing on a laptop, they advised me I should fully rest the hand and not even type for the next couple of days, would this really be the case ? Do you need to rest your hand to that extent after the injection? Might be a tricky one to explain to the boss...!

I get this pain at the base of my baby, ring, and middle fingers with the middle causing the most pain. I had tendon release surgery several years ago and was never able to open my hand fully post-surgery. A minimally painful cortisone shot at the base of the finger works well and can last up to 2 years. My new hand doctor does not condone more than 2-3 shots ever in a tendon so I’m in search of a new one.

My pinkie just suddenly starting doing this a few minutes ago and I have no clue why. I can move it fine, but when I bend it, it suddenly snaps to a further position. Like imagine these numbers are the position changing: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11. Like it’s skipping to a further angle/position when I bend it.

Will the sheathe heal on its own? If not, why do we need it. What is it for and will it cause problems later down the road?

I have tried the injection both times I have dealt with trigger finger and it did come back and I had to have surgery. I am planning a second surgery for this summer.

Wow I saw a doctor Locally and he said it would never go away and I have to do surgery. I told him I would like the steroid shot like he mentioned and he got mad! I guess he wasn't getting the big bucks for surgery. And I never went back to him agian for lying! My finger is just stiff and never locked up... Yet!.

I work in construction and 3 of my fingers locked up. Got injections in all 3 and it fixed the problem but after a year one of my fingers started locking up again.

I can’t think of a more painful place to have a needle than the palm of your hand. I had these shots twice. I’d almost rather have surgery!
