BMW X3 30i Long-Term Ownership Review - Problems After 3 Years!

Hi guys, and welcome back to Petrolhead Podcasts. I recently sold my 2021 BMW X3 and thought it would be good to provide an overview of my long-term ownership experience of this car. As I have also owned 2018 and 2019 BMW X3’s of the current generation, I thought it would be good to go through all of the positives and negatives of my ownership experience across all the X3’s I have owned. All X3’s I’ve owned have been xDrive30i models, which have the 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo engine producing 248 horsepower and 258 pound feet of torque. The X3 will be fully redesigned for the 2025 model year, but my ownership experience should be valid for anyone looking for a 2018 to 2024 model as they all share the same basic design and powertrain.

Thanks for video. very informative. Re the routine maintenance cost if you are even remotely handy the air filter and cabin filter are relatively easy to change. You can purchase OEM quality replacements at Rock Auto which are significantly less costs than the BMW filters.

Great video. I have one issue with my 2021model. There is a high pitched whistle that occures occasionally when its cold outside. Any suggestions as to the cause?

Mmm any new car is reliable for 3 years not much to say about it, it's in the long term when recent Bimmers start to get a serious money consumers with transmission issues, electronic nightmares and even hydraulic steering

I have a 2021 x3 30i is it worth buying the extended warranty since I’ve decided to buy out the lease.

Hi, are these X3 (model 2019 - 2020) models don't come with a spare tyre? Not even a tools/jack included? Is that correct?

Ok, cheers. Mine no tools, no jack, no spare wheel. I bought a used X3 from the dealership. Just worried what will my option be if I had a flat tyre. Stuck with no spare and no tools etc. Why they removed the standard spare wheel like the good old days. They are cost cutting??

You say maintenance costs is an yes if you're taking it to a BMW dealership and overpaying when it's out of its warranty. Once out of warranty simply don't take it to a BMW dealership anymore.
