Just got my first piece of silver as a wedding gift, and funny enough the guy who bought it mentioned he had considered getting a Lego set of the same price. My rational self is happy with the silver, the emotional self wants to build a Lego set lol!

Using your LEGO collection as your background is so much better than your storage bins ;)

While I did buy a dozen different Lego sets this past spring and summer as "investments" I would rather put my extra cash into dividend paying stocks and ETF's that pay me to hold it. It takes up absolutely NO room in my home. Since I have spent the last year or two concentrating on this I have seen my income (outside of my employment) increase as well as my net worth. IF my Lego should sell at a profit I was planning on putting it towards more income producing stocks and ETF's anyway.

I have a theory that toys made in plastics will be more and more rare as the world is turning greener. I think there will be more bioplastics or toys in wood hence price of lego etc will go up even more

I started investing in lego five years ago. For me, it's a win-win situation: if the set goes up in price and I can sell it, yay, profit. If it doesn't go up in price or if I can't sell it, yay, I got lego to build.

The thing is... Gold is only really a good investment if you spend a lot on it, which is risky, of course because the value of gold fluctuates. Buy a small bit of gold and the premiums you'll pay mean your ROI is already down a lot. So, not worth it really. Lego is a good investment if you buy something that has a high demand and even better if low supply - especially limited edition sets. But you MUST take inflation into account as well. So if a set is already on discount and you can flip it for double then that's obviously significantly better.
I'm not a financial advisor but I've done copious amounts of research and the most common advice is to invest (regularly) into an ETF and exploit compound interest, if you really want to make money that is. Diversify your portfolio by all means. I personally wouldn't solely rely on Lego. It seems unlikely but if the demand for it ever diminished and your money that you suddenly need is tied up in those sets sat on a shelf... It's no longer a good idea at all. Only invest with money you don't need access to any time soon and remember capital is at risk! In conclusion to my essay lol, there are many pros and cons to all investments so you have to decide which is right for YOU

I got the Vestas wind turbine set last year back in mid September of 2020 and it is now retired and my copy is still in box. Looking on brickset the set has gone up in price just a bit from $200 to $209 so far brand new.

I own quite a bit of silver and Lego sets along with some crypto. Diversify your portfolio. Lego is an investment opportunity that's really starting to gain traction since the pandemic started. If you wanna invest in gold or silver, own both bullion and coins. Coins not only have the metal value but also the numismatic value as well.

This is a really interesting video, I completely agree with your negatives of investing in lego, were seeing inflated prices as when these cool sets came out, not many people were buying to invest so therefore now when there are more people in the lego hobby, there aren't many sealed sets. However, now more people will keep sets sealed and then therefore in the future, even if there are even more people in the market for those sets, theres more supply

I've always said, the value of something is what someone is willing to pay you for it. So if a Lego set is said to be worth $500.00 and someone is only willing to pay you $200.00, then that is what it's worth even if you paid $300.00 for it. A collectable item isn't always a sure thing in your investment plan for the future.

This was an excellent summary. I am a Lego and PM enthusiast and the issues you covered were spot on. You conveyed a remarkable amount of information in a brief video. I would mention that in the 70s the gold price was pegged to the USD so while $40 as a starting valuation is a bit artificial. You clearly own assets and have a plan to profit off the coming inflation - good on you!
