In this video I discuss why it MIGHT be a good idea to stop Lego Investing by discussing current market trends and economical challenges. Please note that this is a toy and this video is made for entertainment purposes. I do not consider myself a financial advisor, nor an expert in investing so please do your own research before making any purchasing decisions! This is not financial advice.

I bye lego every week and used around 3000€ this year, I dont buy it for Investing, but because I love the collecting of lego and the build.

I'd rather hold for a couple yrs...they continue to appreciate and its way easier than constantly sourcing and turning over stock...plus, i am busy with a full time job too

who cares about this when you're holding for 5 years? nothing of this matters. most stock of good sets will be dry. a good set is a good set.

Next year the re sell market will be flooded with sets that all the new flippers/sellers are trying to get a fast return, a lot of fingers are going to get burned. I don’t mind as I hold all sets for atleast 2-3 years before I move them on as I don’t need the money back too quickly. Next year will be a good time to buy as the new sellers will start to slow down on reinvesting as it’s not as easy as they think.

I would love see see Lego investing completely tank so that the prices of older models can return to being within reach of the average Lego loving consumers (kinda like before 2015 when collecting was fun, and finding a model you wanted on ebay wasn't absurdly priced).

My best buy to date and what got me more in depth into the hobby was a $20 Facebook market bulk buy that had over 180 Minifigs from Star Wars, Super Heroes, Ninjago, Nexo Knights, Minecraft, and other randoms. Made over $900 from just the minifigs and still have a lot of sets I'm trying to sell.

one of the best pieces of advice i've heard from other collector/investor types is just buy what you're actually interested in. just because it says a licensed name doesnt mean anything. would you have wanted that set as a kid? do you really see this having value after it retires, or will it be taking up a ton of space for years before you can make a "profit" (read: lose all profit to inflation). the move is to buy a set just before it retires, so the maximum depreciation from inflation during its shelf life can take effect. 20% off in the first year isnt the same as 20% off right when it retires. lego went crazy with inflation markups fearing massive shelf-life devaluation, more than the normal single digit(? if i recall correctly) amount they build into a price.

Personally I find reselling much more fun and less risky😊 but it is time comsuming so it is propably only gonna work for people who likes the sorting and detective work that goes with it.

A year you mention.. its not being lazyZ i have a full time job and i invest in the stock market. Only 10% of the value of my stocks is in lego. But its about risk management. Spreading the risk is important. And my lego is in my own storage. I will wait 10+ years with selling.

Fantastic video, probably the most comprehensive Lego YouTuber I watch. I’m a student and have so far put £100 a month into Lego with the intention of holding throughout my degree so I can have some good startup capital when I finish to start my own business. Being experienced on reselling, I am considering trying some flips as well, especially towards Christmas. As you say, it’s about being reactive and not passive if you want to see real gains in this market.

It's a dark time boys. Lego investing as we once knew it, will never be the same.

Just dont invest in a childs toy you're ruining it for everyone who doesn't invest and it takes the joy out of it for adults and teens who want to get back into the hobby
