I lived in Yakima, WA, from early January, 1964, until early December, 1966. There were many reports of big foot sightings on Radio KIMA back then (I thought most of it was joking). When hunting season opened, hunters often disappeared and were not found while I lived there. It was not unusual for people to disappear on the mountain passes during the Winter months. The State issued warnings to stay off the passes when big snow storms were moving in (or had already blocked the roads).
If you were already on one of the passes, you could be snowed in very quickly.
