My uncle is obsessed with Bigfoot. I love asking him questions about it at Thanksgiving. I don’t believe in Bigfoot at all, but it makes him happy to talk about it, so I’m doing some research in order to ask him what he thinks of specific videos. He’ll love that.

My sister lived in Humboldt, CA. for years in the 60s and 70s, before everyone was looking for bigfoot, and she was married to a guy up there who was from an old Norwegian logging family. One night she was driving home very late in the mountains with her husband and when they slowed to take a slippery, hairpin curve just as a bigfoot stepped into the road to cross so that for a moment they were staring at each other in shock. She said she thought it was young, because it was smaller and she said its expression was a human look of fear and disbelief before it darted off. It was about 2 am and freezing cold and foggy on a deserted road, no one would hang out there in a costume in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere. She had never believed or disbelieved the bigfoot tales, and decided she had seen one with her own eyes so they must be real, and that was that for her. I believed her because she was very precise about details. Her husband said the loggers and indians had all seen bigfoot, but they left each other strictly alone, being warned away from certain areas. I know it sounds weird, but the high Sierra Mountains is the perfect habitation for a creature like bigfoot.

If any Bigfoot enthusiasts are visiting Lancaster County Pennsylvania in October, Columbia, PA has an annual festival called the Albatwitch Festival named after our Bigfoot said to reside here. Apparently there is a train ride that stops near an area it is said to frequent and you can throw apples in the trees since it is said to love apples.

That 3rd one definitely came from the movie. It was taken on by The Proof is Out There, and while I don’t always agree with their “experts, ” their sound guy is top notch. He found the actual sound clip from the dinosaur movie —can’t remember the exact one—and he showed they were a 100% match.
