This is factually incorrect. You would be right if you said there's not much of a difference in regards to raw performance, as in impact on framerate while streaming, but this is a different discussion all together. Even if you're CPU bound, you'll be better off using Game Capture because it's a less costly operation.
The reason there's a significant difference in regards to input latency when using Game Capture compared to Display Capture, is that Game Capture injects a hook into the game process, allowing OBS to grab frames at a much earlier stage than Display Capture which does this at the last possible moment before frames are passed from the display adapter. Display Capture is the worst of the capture modes in regards to input latency and not least, privacy.

Thanks for the brief overview, I was a bit confused on the small differences. Makes a lot more sense now, display capture has more versatility in the display area.

If your on a laptop with a igpu and GPU and the igpu is connected to the display then game capture is much better and faster because display capture can only run on the processor / GPU that is connected to the display which is my igpu and cpu and it puts much more load on my cpu and lags so I use game capture which works on GPU and can use nvenc properly which boosts fps

I have absolutely no issue hardware-wise running a stream and gaming. I swear though even if my game is over 240 fps and my monitor is refreshing at 240 fps when streaming it just does not look as fluid to me. I have no idea what is causing this. Anyone have an idea as to why just simply having obs streamlabs open (not even streaming) would do this to my game?

So there is this problem on OBS that when you change up the processor between integrated graphics and Nevada graphics card,

Some reason it's changing up something that lowers the fps droppings,

Like for example, the integrated graphics card can allow you to show display capture, but it lags completely when you're doing 60 FPS,

And you have Nividia capture card with obs, disables display capture, but highly increase the FPS, and especially using Game captures on games you're playing,

So basically you have to sacrifice a display capture just to record so smoothly on games only,

All the other wedgets sources can work out fine but the display capture, is fully disabled when you have nevidia working with it

So I’ve been having problems with my stream being laggy/choppy for my viewers and in OBS. I was using display capture and decided to try game capture and it completely fixed the laggy/choppy problem. I have a i9 10850k with the 3080. I also stream and play using one pc. You have any idea why display capture would cause this?
