Bangladesh | Over 100 Students Injured in Bangladesh Clashes Over Government Job Quota System
Показать описание
More than 100 students were injured across Bangladesh on Monday in violent clashes between protesters demanding the end of the quota system for government jobs and supporters of the system. The protests mark the first significant demonstrations against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who began her fourth term in January this year. Anti-quota protesters and the student wing of Sheikh Hasina's Awami League clashed at several universities, using rocks, sticks, and iron rods. Despite PM Sheikh Hasina's refusal to meet the students' demands and the matter being before the court, the anti-quota protesters have called for continued marches and rallies. The protests initially began after the High Court ordered the government to restore a 30% job quota for the descendants of freedom fighters. Watch this video for a comprehensive overview of the ongoing protests and the escalating tension in Bangladesh.
