Bangladesh is under a strict 'shoot at sight' curfew this weekend following clashes between police and demonstrators that have left more than a 114 people dead.

Internet and mobile services have been blocked since Thursday as the authorities seek to quell the unrest.

Protests started a few weeks ago, with students venting their anger about a policy which reserves a third of government jobs for relatives of those who fought for Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan in 1971.

Warning, this report contains distressing images.

How much blood does Hasina want?

There is no account of how many hundreds of people were killed in 3/4 days.

The report did not get into the details of the quota in Bangladesh.
- 30% Quota reserved for liberation war fighters, their children, their grandchildren. (the issue of grandchildren is objected to). 53 years of liberation war has most likely made most of the children ineligible to apply with 30 years of maximum age for application.
In addition, Many fake liberation war certificates have been issued by this regime to benefit their party sympathizers and members.
-Other quotas reserve positions for women (10 percent), backward districts that are considered marginalized (10 percent), minorities such as the Indigenous population (5 percent), and people with physical disabilities (1 percent).

Disgusting police who did that to that kid. No value for human life that they swore to protect as a police officer. A stain to the vow and the badge. Go work in construction or maintennce or something.

As a student living outside Bangladesh now, I can't contact my friends and family. My father is in hospital, my friends were injured in the protest. My beloved Dhaka University and almost all educational institutes in Bangladesh were attacked by police, BGB, and the Student League (student wing of Al), which caused unprecedented suffering to protesters. I wish this regime ended here; they don't deserve to be in power after killing innocent people who just asked to repair the unfair quota system. We need to rebuild a broken democratic system from scratch; there is no alternative if we really want a stable and prosperous Bangladesh.

It's been more than 48 hours without a broadband connection in Bangladesh. We're struggling to communicate with our family. Direct calls are dropping making it almost impossible to understand even a sentence; even messages are not being delivered today. The ruling government has violated International human rights law under many articles including using helicopters to drop tear gas & shoot targeting protesters, and cutting off users from internet access. This autocratic government should receive condemnation from all countries without further delay.

We are with the students. It is unfair to keep 56% of the jobs for less than 1% of the people who contributed 53 years before. #savebangladeshistudents
