4 Levels of Pork Chops: Amateur to Food Scientist | Epicurious

We challenged chefs of three different skill levels - amateur Onika, home cook Lorenzo, and professional chef Frank Proto from The Institute Of Culinary Education - to prepare their favorite pork chop recipe. Once each level of chef had served up their creation, we asked expert food scientist Rose to explain the choices each made along the way - both good and bad. Which pork chop would you opt for?

Frank's first step in this dish is cultivating a years-long friendship with Lorenzo.

Onika's pork chops remind me so much of when I was a kid and my mom would make fried pork chops 😭❤️

All three of these chefs have so much personality. And dang I want to eat all three of these chops! I had to laugh when this video popped up because I’m making pork chops tonight too.

When Onika said "cook your meat until it's done please. None of that pink stuff".

Every Jamaican ever said "Oh hell yeah girl now we talking"

Frank : We start by raising our own pig

Onika: "You want to get a nice pork chop..."
Lorenzo: "It has to be at least an inch thick with the bone in..."
Frank: "So you're going to want to go to your local pig farmer and ask him how much organic water was used to raise the feed that was given to the hogs on Tuesday last..."

I love Lorenzo! I've always loved Lorenzo; his enthusiasm for cooking just shines through every time! Frank is more of an acquired taste - I love and appreciate him so much, although that wasn't the case at my first viewings with him. His knowledge yet down-to-earth approach brings cuisine elevation art to the masses. He's not just a food snob elitist as I first feared. I haven't yet seen much of Onika and I look forward to seeing more with her - her style of cooking and her background is just so different from my Italian-American upbringing!

Any chance you guys could do some behind-the-scenes or blooper videos? I was always curious as to how the process goes when it comes to making these 3 level cooking/amateur vs professional videos 😅

Lorenzo indirectly promoting banana ketchup. Plus he stated himself that he is a Filipino. Filipinos will come out here for sure!

Shout out to all Filipino foodies out there!

My man Lorenzo representing Filipino culture like a boss. Those pork chops look AWE-SOME.

I hope he gets his own youtube channel someday. I'd subscribe in a heartbeat.
