This is why I got mad when the hospital said "it's just a bad sprain"
After getting a second opinion I had an MRI which showed 3 ligaments in my ankle ruptured or tore keeping me off my feet for nearly 6 months

6 months ago, I was at a fluorescent party. I was dancing in the wrong place at the wrong time, and I was stabbed in the eye by a glow stick someone was waving around. This resulted in a 1cm corneal abrasion, which was every bit as painful as it sounds. I showed up at the hospital, right eye tearing profusely, vision in that eye blurry, and in agony. In the 3 hour wait to be seen by the doctor, I wondered how many weeks or months this would take to heal.

This injury occurred at 2am in the morning. By the evening, so about 18 hours later, the pain had already stopped and my vision was almost back to normal. The next day, I had almost zero pain and my vision was almost normal in that eye. Absolutely no trace of the injury 36 hours later. It's AMAZING how quick the cornea heals. Even a cut of that size would've taken days to heal. The cornea is truly a remarkable tissue. The most sensitive and densely innervated of any tissue, and also the fastest to heal, and paramount for our survival. No tissue like it.

i’ve sprained my ankle many times and i can say that although the pain stops after 2-4 weeks, my foot usually feels weak or loose for months

I sprained an ankle in 2010. Last time I remember having a noticeable flare-up of pain from that injury was like 2019. That's aside from smaller problems like how that joint pops pretty frequently whereas the other ankle never does.

All of my broken bones have healed. Me tearing my ligaments in my knee, still messes with me years later... Great affirmation to what I knew.

I tore my acl and I told people I would definitely rather broke my leg vs tearing it. Thanks for confirming my point.

This is anecdotal but i once sprained my wrist while working out. It took about 1.5 years for the pain to stop. It wasn't debilitating, thank god. Just a constant dull ache. I think research into ligament and cartilage repair needs more funding.

I’ve never broken a bone- most likely due to my genetic connective tissue disorder. Instead of breaking, everything around that bone stretches or tears instead. So I lost count of how many bad sprains I had by the time I was like 7. I was always told I was so lucky when it turned out to be “just a bad sprain” and not broken. This video is very validating.

Spraining the ligament in my knee disabled me from walking correctly. I still feel the effects to an extent sometimes.

Most of athlete that I recognize didn't perform at the same level as before, when they comeback from a ligament tear. Or it at least take years to fully recover. I hope with science today, we and especially can learn how to minimize ligament injuries in certain situation. I wish everyone a speedy recovery from both ligament tear and bone fracture as well as other disease. May peace be upon you 🙏

Can vouch for this. One ligament injury in my knee took almost two years to fully heal back to full flexibility and strength and one in my ankle took nearly a year. Of course, leg injuries can be slow since you can't exactly stay off them for months on end. Meanwhile, I've broken three bones and never had a healing process longer than 6 weeks, and once healed, the limb was as good as new.

I got a sprain in my wrist and because I just kept my arm up for 4 weeks, it healed surprisingly fast.
