Hey when I hit the button nothing happens. Red light blinks a few times and then shuts off..screen is black..do you tjink I need to hook it up to devices (cable box, ps4) for it to power on or do you think it's broken

It's wild that these TVs will not work without a remote. Even the input cannot be changed with that Power/Input button without first pairing the TV with a remote. Whether that decision is down to the manufacturer's cost-saving measures or some other seemingly practical reason, it's just *bonkers* that - should the TV ever be unplugged or experience a power outage - no feature of this standalone device can be implemented (changing input source, volume, absolutely nothing) without having it first paired with a remote. Not even if it's plugged directly into the internet with an ethernet cable and you try to use the Fire TV app to control the TV ... still need to pair it with a separate remote first.
The amount of e-waste and frustration this "feature" produces is just .... surreal.

If you got to this video because your fire tv won't recognize remote I figured out the exact steps not that it was too difficult...


1. Download fire tv official app, and power on tv with ethernet connected on "searching for remote" screen, open the fire tv app on ur phone while on your home wifi, you should see your tv under the list of nearby devices, just by proximity and being on the same network. We are doing this check to verify that the TV is connecting to the internet and able to receive inputs from ur phone.

2. This next step may work with tv on or off, but I turned it off after confirming step one. Then With tv off, press power button for 10 - 15secs
IT WILL CUT back on and after the brief loading screen, th "downloading upgrades" screen pops up

3. Remember I said 1st update, it's going to reboot and say "downloading updates" about 3x times, for some reason this will seem like a boot loop or it's repetitive but trust me because it probably has to upgrade from factory software to about 3 or 4 update versions until it gets to the final one.

4.after the 3rd or 4th reboot your tv is just as good as any 300 2023 fire tv but better it's up to date!

This doesn't help at all my button doesn't do anything all I see is HDMI 1 2 3 Channel 3 and then also my TV is not hooked up to the Internet it just says home and settings when you click this button nothing happens sorry clickbait
