At such a price bump one would expect some hardware improvements - sdi built-in, thinner bezels, quieter fans, brighter screen... something!

Seems to be a nice future proof upgrade. Interesting.
Great job, greetings from Lisbon

Canon raw works in DaVinci Resolve and ProRes RAW doesn’t. That’s important for a lot of people

Zcam E2 can record up to C4k 120fps with H265 and also apple pro-res internal anyway.

I'm pretty interested in this product and I think I'll be waiting to hear more details on how it will work with the R5 and even the R6 before I pull the trigger on any external recorder. I'm not sure the R5 will be able to actually output 8K30p over micro HDMI, but if Atomos is saying it's coming to that camera, then we can assume the micro HDMI port is 2.1 and rated for 42.6 Gbit/s which WOULD support the data for 4K120...this could most certainly be a very big deal for Canon users like myself and may potentially influence the purchase of a second R5.

My Atomos Ninja V has been broken for a while and then this was announced. I think it’s a very capable product but the pricing is very expensive. In the end I ordered a replacement Ninja V, since I can’t really use the new features of the Ninja V+ anyway. Cheers

The only big question is when are they going to update SHOGUN 7 to accept 6k and 4k RAW via HDMI. Right now the only way to have 6k and 4k RAW and output enabled is with BM Video Assist 7". For my S1H I mean. Very explanatory video by the way....Good Job m8

This would explain the fan on the FX3? 4K 120 external sure needs powerful process

Can we record 8K ProRes (not RAW) with the R5?

Finally the first generation of true HDMI 2.1 Recorders that can finally do 120fps over HDMI and 8K. The H.265 support is amazing as sometimes ProRes files can be massive on space

Media?.. will current atomx media have to be changed ? Timecode.. will sync module still be required or is it built in like the neon? is there likely to be a bigger shogun type or is neon replacing that..

If the Ninja Stream can be used as a video switcher as well, I will buy it right away.

What about the S1H, where does it fit in with the V5+?

Anyone know if the C70 from Canon will be supported and if so will it be 10 4:2:2 120?

how are you going to get 4K120 or 8K30 over HDMI? Canon R5 uses HDMI 2.0, which caps out at 4K60. Is it a port upgrade?

The image quality of the video is superb. I want to know what equipments were used for the video. I clicked the Equipments link in the description but the link does not work. Can you give us info, please?

I have the Canon R5 and placed my pre-order this afternoon. I have had the Ninja V for a few years and they have consistently upgraded this device as new camera are released. I agree with you that this is just the initial set of cams, and will definitely be upgrading after the initial release. I use the Ninja V and Canon R5 as my daily workflow and can record continually in 4KHQ with no overheating issues. I expect this will do the same for 8K Raw recording and overcome the current limitations associated with 8K.
