So, you didn't spend the required 40hour day practicing piano to become an exalted classical pianist, so you took on the next best profession- medicine!

The only reason the math stereotype exists is because Asian countries smash more of it into the curriculum so people from certain places will be quite a bit ahead than westerners are. My Japanese exchange student friends learned our grade 12 math in grade 5 and 6. So of course, it doesn't mean Asian people are naturally more proficient or somehow genetically better at math, but having learned more of it in mandatory curriculum because academia is structured completely differently will make it seem that way to really clueless westerners.

Everytime they hear I'm Indian they assume I work at a call centre.
I don't, and I won't.

You are so entertaining, have to admit I laugh out loud sometimes. That’s weird cause I live on my own. My neighbors must think I’ve lost it.😆

If you were to, at some point, like golf; it'd be 'cause you're a doctor, though

Most often on tv they are the nerdy sidekick who never gets a date or they are lethal martial artists.

- I had very short hair, but not a bowl cut
- I hate golf because I stink at it
- I am politely indifferent/neutral to math. My top favorites will always either be Art, Music, and some types of science
- I do practice Taekwondo, but it’s so rare for it to be useful in real life (Because I rarely get into fights) and I’ve only shown off once in my life, at all
- I’m born in the year of the dog, I love wolves, and I would very literally work my life away to get a dog. NO!!!
- I have perfect vision, but I do have glasses as accessories, blue light and faux
- I will only be a doctor if my love of art or music doesn’t bloom into anything. That is my fallback plan.

I still don't understand the whole "Chinese people eat dogs stereotype"... in Mandarin, you affectionately refer to your son as "小犬" (literally "small dog")

I’m in my late 60s, and it’s so wonderful that we can now look at one another and see our fellow citizens, whatever our ancestries. It was a lot different when I was growing up, but we still have a long way to go.

“You doctor, yet?”
“Dad, I’m on Tiktok…”
“Talk to me when you doctor!”

So sad that any of us have to address others people's stereotypes and prejudices. Thank you for bringing this into our awareness.⚘

My husband is half Asian. He had a bowl cut as a kid, wore glasses (lasik) and is amazing at math! He has also eaten dog once. But I don't think he likes golf and he's not a doctor but he's a manager of a store that sells scrubs and medical supplies for doctors and nurses.
