The lost DW episodes deserve to be Recreated. It shows that Fans can make better content then Studios these days.

If it weren't for Ian Levine we would not have the 1963 Daleks serials or most of Jon Pertwee's episodes. They were ALL in a bin to be taped over.

Bless the man! Save the Doctor scripts, stills and audio tracks are still around for almost all of these lost episodes!

The University of Lancashire's reconstruction of "Mission to the Unknown" was clearly a labor of love.

I've been watching them (and financially supported the not perfect (though you can see that eventually one day, they may well could be), but they really gave me a feeling that I have watched the missing stories far beyond what any animations or telesnap recons could - at least enough so that it's not AS depressing that the actual episodes are still and probably forever missing.... this is the man responsible for saving most of what missing episodes we do have - he bought them from the BBC when they were on the verge of being junked! The audio you mentioned wasn't taken from satellite bounces, but from fan off-air recordings made back in the 60s duing their initial broadcast - quite a miracle that all the audio exists!!! Thanks for bringing this up amidst all the awfulness of the horrible Disney incarnation

There's been a number of great 1st Doctor Big Finish episodes. The Invention of Death is an absolute banger.

This guy is a hero, but expect the BBC to swoop in and strike him down, then steal these restored lost episodes and put them on iPlayer behind a pay wall.

The only hope we truly have is if RTD is fired and the next person to take over regnerates the new doctor from Capaldi's doctor to wipe out Jodie's and Ncuti's timeline, thus eliminating Timeless Child crap. I'm sure they have the original footage, so it can be remixed to a new regneration. :)

Fans do what official productions don't.

I was fortunate enough to catch most of the surviving episodes when they started showing repeats following the 25th and 30th anniversaries

They also published novelisations - great stories.

It would be wonderful if the BBC had a hand in this, like they did when they helped out with the restoration of The Daemons, but the current shower wouldn't know heritage if it bit them in the arse.

This is why I like fans more: they actually have a passion for this stuff and will do more than most "entertainment" dinguses these days. This and the Star Trek fan-film Captain Kirk did.

Why is no one asking? Why isn't the bbc restoring the episodes? All that big talk and they can't even be bothered

Big Finish gave me back Tom Baker, and I'm forever grateful.

Their "Pertwee" stuff is wonderful as well. Treloar does a REALLY good impression. :)

Classic Doctor Who written by greats like Terry Nation with props and sets provided by miss Appleton’s 3rd grade arts and crafts class.

WOW! Good for Ian! He is one of the most successful music producers-mixers in UK pop history, and he has been a fixture at Who cons for a long time. I used to fly to the UK a couple times a year to attend British cons when the show was dormant, and he was there. Great stuff to see!! Thanks, Jon!

The first doctor is very funny, hes incredibly rude and irritable, i think it's way too slow paced for most people now to be able to tolerate though . In an age where every scene is 30 secs long with constant jump cuts

I think the best crecreation of a missing Dr Who story I've seen was "Mission to the Unknown" from the Hartnell era. This was a one episode stand alone story that didn't actually have The Doctor or any of the regular characters in it. It was an intorduction to the Daleks' Masterpaln story. The missing episode was reshot by university students and is available on YouTube.

They're actually pretty decent quality, I was very pleasantly surprised, he's actually finished doing all the missing stories
