This is how to backup save game files as well as how to duplicate saves in Elden Ring. Be very careful with these as if you do something wrong, you may lose your progress.

Elden Ring Save Copy App:

Here are all the games I make videos on:

POTENTIAL WARNING: Apparently 1.06 patch now frowns on the character copying. It will give you an "Inappropriate activity detected..." message. And in my own testing, deleting the "extra" saved character does NOT resolve this. Reverifying game files now to see if it will resolve the issue, if not, testing Uninstall/Reinstall.

Just tried the duplication method, it still works like a charm. Did not want to go through NG+ for the different endings, so thanks a lot! Got Platinum now

Current date of comment, June 23, 2024. Method still works like a charm, no warning from the game about "suspicious activity detected". Thanks, ConCon!

Still works! Just make sure to delete all your posted messages prior to backing-up the save(s)

Just dropping in to let you know I had success as of 1.08.1. I took it a step further and loaded an old backup of a pre-boss fight to try it without mimic. Thanks for the great tutorial.

I just want to say, this still works for 1.06! Not sure this was all necessary, but here is what I did:

-Turned Steam to offline mode before opening the github app (elden ring was also not actively running)
-Copied save file from roaming to the desktop
-opened the github app
-selected a character to copy that had left NO MESSAGES EVER (saw in other comments this might be cause for an issue)
-copied said character and overwrote an old character slot
-exited github app
-changed steam back to online mode
-booted up Elden Ring, and it worked!

So in case anyone is still nervous about trying with 1.06, I can say that if you do exactly as I did, everything should work great. Not sure the particulars are important to do at all, but that's what I did and it worked. Thanks again ConCon for the tutorial, very easy to follow.

Confirmed working as of Patch 1.08 without any issue. Having a blast in the Colosseums and I really needed more builds, thank you ConCon!
For anyone wonderig, this is the safe way to do it (at least, it worked for me twice): delete all your messages & save and quit the game. Go offline and unplug your ethernet cable/turn off wi-fi. Now follow the vid step by step, and make sure to deleted the .bak file that pops up in your ER save folder as soon as you save the changes with the save editor. Then open the game, load the new save, change the character name and save-quit. Now you can go back online and enjoy your new save files.

This is INCREDIBLE! I just recently completed all of the game and DLC, and was dreading running my other 2 builds through the game in order to have some variety. Now I have multiple copies of the file that's 100% and I can just Larval Tear to whatever builds I want! HUUUUGE time saver. I'm not a fan of using things like CE to build characters, and have no intention of even being suspected of cheating, or being banned as a result. So this method is just what I needed!

I started by backing up the save file, and having Cloud Save function turned off, and putting Steam in Offline mode (just in case). I then followed the instructions in the video, but instead of only duplicating the save once, after confirming the copy, I selected a few other slots to receive the same save. After that, I went into the Elden Ring game save file, and deleted the "backup" files (as the program prompts you to. I loaded up the game, walked each copied save over to Renalla, ready to use Larval Tears. Then closed the game out, Put Steam back into Online mode. I left Cloud Save function off, but if you were to turn it back on, I'm sure you'd have to select between which save file you'd want to continue with at that time. Then I loaded up the game and logged in at the title screen. I placed my summon sign down, and was summoned. Killed the boss, and closed the game again. No issues so far!

As long as there continues to be no issues, this is an absolute life saver! Also your video is very informative and straight to the point! Thank you for sharing!

As of 1.10, it appears to work perfectly fine. I haven't tried actually being summoned into another world as a cooperator yet, but just a few notes (Edit, works fine even with getting summoned):
- I copied over the save file to desktop (or any location, really) before I went back on the game and deleted messages on the character
- I deleted the backup file before booting up the game just to be safe, as per instructions (but kept a backup of the backup on desktop as well)
- Copying over the same character from the desktop save file with the messages doesn't seem to conflict with the original character in the folder save file, without messages
- I've been booting up and playing with Online turned on this entire time and it hasn't yelled at me with a warning yet

All around, works as intended if you're careful. Cheers!
