Thanks so much for featuring me in this video! It was a joy to learn more about this character, as I related to Selma's pain in more ways than one. Finding romance isn't as easy as it seems, and especially considering where she is in her life, Patty's lack of awareness, and the unfortunate luck she has dealt with, you just want to see her win.

I think for Selma would be nice with Moe. I know the real jimms had a video on it but i really think it could work.

Moe has been shown to be good with kids especially when bart was younger and Maggie. Plus he has a tough exterior like Selma but has a soft center.

All for Selmoe

Another tragic fact is that Marge sounds more like Patty and Selma with each new episode. Poor Julie Kavner can’t do the young-yet-gravely voice anymore in her 70s. All jokes aside, I’m so grateful that this actress was able to gift us with such an iconic and lovable TV mom (who’s hair is large) for over 3 decades.

I think that Selma’s pain was never really explained. Thanks for posting this so people can finally understand.

I think that Selma secretly likes Homer especially after seeing how happy he has made Marge and how he still loves his family despite his many flaws. I think Homer helping her adopt Ling made Selma respect him even more as he was willing to go along with the lie that they were married so that Selma could finally have a child to love and have some happiness in her life.

Gotta five Homer some credit. Though he hates the Bouvier Twins for their past cruelty, he was willing to act as a husband for Selma, and even saved their jobs smoking cigarettes ( which was a BIG Flavor Country mind you). I believe Marge even confesses Homer felt sorry for Selma because her sister was Patty!

I've always assume Moe as the MOST tragic Simpsons character, I mean the dude seem never find happiness.

So maybe the worst crime Sideshow Bob committed was toying with Selma's affections?

I could personally love Selma. Though she seems gruff like Patty, there's someone who deeply longs for love; and though she's finds it from chub chub and her adoptive daughter, I can tell she desired more at some time. I'm glad she's been happy since her failed marriages & relationships, but it saddens me how much this woman has endured and remained silent till she spoke with Marge about it. It's making me tear up a little. 😥

I definitely think that if, Patty found the woman of her dreams and got married to her, thus living with her new wife, it would've allowed Selma to be a happier person, because even though she doesn't have her own partner she has the love of her sister Marge and her nieces and nephew.

Selma has always been one of my favorite characters. She’s so complex and full of deep emotions. She’s so vulnerable and has so many desires, yet nothing seems to work out for her. She’s been heartbroken so many times. She really wants more in life, but just can’t seem to get there

Whenever i think of the Simpson’s, I think of one single scene to explain the show as a whole—Selma singing Natural Woman to her pet lizard while cuddling it. It’s weird, it’s surreal, and it’s heart warming.

Selma’s certainly the richer and more sympathetic of the two by far, but don’t be so hard on Patti for “holding her back.” If Selma’s feeling so desperate for marriage that she’s prepared to settle for an unsuitable match, it’s best for Patti to pull her back and remind her that she’s perfectly capable of finding a rich and fulfilling life on her own. We should not want our TV shows to reinforce the pernicious stereotype that old maids are pathetic and pitiable creatures condemned to a fate worse than death.

They should've made Selma and Moe a couple...I can see them two being a good item. Two misunderstood souls.

Selma is deep down some of the most vulnerable and deep characters she just needs some time and she has to give Ling a break (glad your back)

Great video as always!! Nice to see Selma get some love!
I always think that Mrs K needs more credit, she’s such an important character in the series and her chalkboard gag saying “we’ll really miss you Mrs K” still makes me cry!

Patty ruined relationships for Selma and kept her alone and now Patty is the one in a relationship. Poor Selma.

I always thought Selma and Barney could be good for each other. When she is away from Patty she is a nicer person, and he isn't that bad when he is away from Moe's influence.
Talking of the barkeep, Selma did have a thing with him once.
