"The gospel" is apparently anything anyone wants it to be. It's this amorphous term/buzzword with no real power or meaning in Calvinism, certainly, but many other sects too. I'm glad this channel stands up for the clear, concise gospel told to us in scripture. It's really not that confusing. These Bible colleges are pumping out some real beauties, let me tell ya.

Joy comes from a deep knowing that we have been made right with God. I don’t think it’s anything to do with what we get here on earth. Happiness is fleeting, but joy remains constant thanks to God.

Most Relevant Observation (MRO): add some black trim around the collar and the Starfleet Insignia, and with that shirt, Pastor James is a ringer for Captain Kirk 😅

Jean Cauvin, man in Geneva, should have been a pretzel maker. Reading through his commentaries was quite astonishing to see verses stretched, twisted, combined with other verses out of context, all mashed together and twisted into a knot.

I used to be a Calvinist and I have no doubt in my mind that some people who listen to his sermon were thinking along the lines of, "He really preaches Biblical Truth", "He knows the Gospel" "He's such a godly man", "This speaks to my heart" and "I really needed to hear this"

What gospel is he talking about at time mark 1:14? The gospel of being chosen before the foundation of the world?

Kevin is doing some very beneficial work on this channel. I’ve been following for a long time. I would like point out an observation. The Bible clearly talks about there being mature Christian’s and not mature Christian’s still on milk. Kevin pointed out there are or may be multiple stages of growth in a Christian persons life and with that I agree. When I was attending years ago a charismatic church there were people who spoke in tongues (so called prayer language) and people who didn’t. I soon realized I was in the middle of a two level Christianity. Although I don’t think that’s what Kevin is teaching here, it is a common theme for pastors to get off track with. It appeals to a persons sense of pride. For example: I’m a mature Christian and you are not so I’m smarter or better than you. Or Calvinism (and many other beliefs for that matter) I must be smarter and one of the elect because your eyes are not opened like mine are is the effective message I could have became a calvinist at one time but I believed the Bible was right and Calvinism is way off. I’m just saying, mature verses not mature can be a pride issue if we let it. It’s a battle we must fight. God has a way of bringing us to humility and humanly speaking sometimes it ain’t pretty.

Whenever they start talking about God doing all this "for His glory" I raise an eyebrow for Calvinism. And do we live for God, or God's glory?
Calvin's god is about seeking his own glory.

At 2X playback speed, Pastor James is actually able to match Matt Chandler’s FHGR (Frenetic Hand Gesture Rate). He’s still got a ways to go. Keep working on it, James! 😅

He does not understand that OUR peace is peace with God because in Christ we are saved from the wrath of God upon our sin. sheesh...

36:02 I have actually witnessed both in sermons and in person, a pervasive pattern of Calvinists quoting the first chunk of Rom. 1:16 but always stopping right before "to everyone that believes." Kind of how they regularly leave out the "in him" when they quote Ephesians 1:4.

This stuff is super discreet but once you pick up on it, the pattern is painfully obvious.

Other tactics of “conditioning” - when rc sproul passed away, the church gets an email message from the pastor. When Billy graham passed away in couple of months - silence…. Introducing catechism questions into the info flyer, one each week, so that each member gets one by entering, and after some weeks at some point arrives a question “did Jesus die for all” - “no, only for the elect”… going “gently”… like e reisinger recommended…

I attended this church for a year (Aug 2019 - Aug 2020). I ended up leaving because I sensed in Pastor Ross' sermons that he was hostile to those who believed in dispensational eschatology. Through a series of emails I learned he was a partial preterist. Not a heaven or hell issue, but I think a pastor should make clear what his views are on different biblical issues and I have a feeling very few in the church know this about him.

Here's the logic which I think "Oh so you're a Universalist?" Calvinists are running on:

1) TULIP is true, if God wants to save somebody then they WILL be saved.
2) Therefore, if God wants ALL PEOPLE WITHOUT EXCEPTION to be saved, then they WILL all be saved.
3) Therefore, if you don't affirm Limited Atonement, you must be saying all people WILL be saved.

How does a Calvinist know if he's saved? He must continue to persevere in his WORKS. (Perseverance of the Saints) WORKING in order to confirm your election. This philosophy is hypocritical in theory.
