I've been a Christian all of my life. I'm 53 yrs old. I was in a Pentecostal church my first 21 yrs of my life. I did everything I believed to be right, as far as being a Christian involved in the evangelistic world. I started to question everything about Christianity and began to seriously read my Bible of specific doctrines. I read with intentionality. From that exercise, I became Reformed without even knowing about Calvinism nor Arminianism. I believe the Bible.

One thing I've also noticed is the Calvinist book club. Our church library changed, every author was Calvinist. They are heavy on book recommendations. Systematic Theology courses being taught and soon after church statements of faith changes

I think leaving a world-view also has to do with 1) the point in life that they are at 2) critical thinking ability 3) willingness to question assumptions.

Yeah, calvies looove to discipline. I remember getting panic attacks in one calvy church so bad that I couldn’t even go anymore. Their solution? Put me under discipline, threaten excommunication. My boss wisely suggested I just ask for my membership papers. It took about a year, but they.finally gave them to me. Truthfully, by that point I didn’t really care, I had already vowed to never again become an official member of an institutional church.

The Timing of this video is amazing. We have a Calvinist pastor leaving, it took him a month to see the hurt and pain he caused by screwing up relationships and find the courage to do the right thing. it's not always obvious from his preaching but he hates the term Calvinist but loves the TULIP and the 5 points, I'm also fortunate being a relatively new christian cos i get to play dumb like he was trying to get me to join a Calvinist cliche within the church, and got me to read a load of a long passage from somebody rambling on in long winded baloney designed regeneration precedes faith, he Also Loves his systematic theology's and some of the books I've seen on his desk fixing his computer are telling. I'll get the opportunity to play dumb with any proposed new pastors too!

Call the seminary the pastor received his degree from, ask to speak with the dean or head of the theology department and just ask outright if they are “reformed”. Did that at the last “Baptist” church my wife and I attended because I heard a ton of buzz words and phrases just 20 minutes into the sermon. The church website gave no indication it was Calvinist but the pastor, the worship leader and the youth minister all graduated from the same Bible school as posted on their website. Yes it was a Calvinist Bible school which the school does not advertise either. I actually called as if I was a perspective student looking for a decent reformed seminary.

50:30 Yep! 50yrs ago I sat in a Bill Gothard seminar and learned that 'you will become what your focus is'... i.e. even if you are focused on NOT being like xyz... THOSE will be the characteristics which overcome you, the symptoms may manifest differently but the core character flaw is the same as your focus. You will be drawn to what your focus is. THIS is why our focus should be on Christ. We can participate in activism against certain un-Godly things but they must NEVER become our focus.

True Christians preach the Gospel to the world to bring them into the body of Christ, Calvinists preach their gospel to Christians to bring them in their gnostic laced systematic theology.

Ambiguity is huge problem.
We see this in the contradictions in the doctrine when we pass over or ignore the ambiguity we are on a path of spiritual trouble.
Scripture is clear and NEVER ambiguous.
