I'm old, I'll make my stand and that will be that.

26 yrs ago I decided to buy 13 acres and built a home, off the grid with a well, pond of fish, chickens, pigs, plus 8 month food supply, lots of seeds and plenty of ammunition.

I have our pantry so stocked I can’t fit a toothpick in there.
Hubbs gives me grief, tells me I worry too much.
I hope he’s right.

You missed the obvious...DO NOT COOK!!! Even if you love garlic, DO NOT USE ANY!!! If people are starving, and they smell food, they will attack.

I was a "lone wolf" prepper, not because I wanted to, but because friends and family thought I was a little crazy. Most of them haven't changed...

My husband used to tease me about prepping and then Hurricane Michael hit us dead center thank God our house had little serious damage but no power or water for about 3 weeks and he found out then how vulnerable we would really have been if I hadn’t been prepping for a while and now as crazy as this world is getting he’s there with me on prepping. I feel blessed to have him. We have not told anyone about our stashes, we even have a hiding place in the house where we store all of it and it’s big enough for my family to hide in if needed as you never know what can happen or when

I agree with the staying put people. I'm old. If I tried to run i'd just die tired. Besides I firmly believe in gun control. The ability to hit your target is VERY important.

Always lock the doors when going to the store, or leaving the home. Always lock the storm door behind you when entering the house after working in the yard. Always lock all the doors at night.

Make sure you know camping basics and first aid basics just in case. Learn how to start a contained fire, how to use a compass, how to pitch a tent and/or create shelter, etc.

Have hobbies/pastimes/activities that don’t require electricity or technology. Remember that for many years people survived just fine without phones, tablets, etc.

EXCELLENT POINTS. In fact, this is by far the best 15 minutes on survival I've ever seen. As a former combat aviator, I've been through two survival schools, along with having done all-weather camping for 40 years in often minimalist fashion.

One key point: Plan with your neighbors. Get rid of the inevitable social inertia long before the SHTF. Identify critical skill sets and critical community supplies, and plan some preliminary schedules ahead of time. Make them sensible. You do not want everyone sleep-deprived come daybreak! If your neighbors look at you funny, then laugh with them, but don't count them out, for if the SHTF, they'll either readjust their thinking in a hurry or they wont last long.
