I like a lot of the stuff that they did in dark souls 2. A lot of the stances while holding weapons is pretty accurate in reality.

Majula is the best hub. I remember playing DS2 immediately after I had beaten DS1, which I had gotten from Xbox Game Pass back when it was games with gold in like 2014. I bought DS2 straight away and played it for 36 straight hours of pure pain suffering and bliss. I will always love DS2 for the memories it made. The journey it took. And the immense amount of time wasting trying to figure out where to go. Hating DS2 is such a dumb take.

Ds2 has the best armor design. Vengarls Armor is 10/10. It also has some of the coolest NPCs and really cool lore and added in awesome mechanics like powerstancing! I fucking hate that game but it did some stuff really well!

I don't understand the hate for DS2. For me it felt like the other dark souls games tbh. It must be the type of souls player I am. Always careful and methodic in new areas, always "luring it out", always grinding through slowly.

For me, I really loved the aesthetic of DS2, the cohesiveness of story was quite pique, the themes were wild and thought provoking (there are some insane lore rabbit holes, old iron king, pyromancer subplot is Majula vibes.

And I don't know, that game fills me with Nostalgia. It's a beautiful fucking game, with beautiful scenery. I really loved it. Vengarl and Lucatiel are some favorite characters. Especially Vengarl, what a great character concept. Dude found peace and solace in being decapitated, where he just vibes and appreciates the beautiful scenery around him. Lucatiel trying to preserve her sense of self, really struck a chord.

The Crown DLC's are literally a second game, and the gold standard for DLC. I often compare DS2 DLC to pretty much all DLC, very few have lived up to that.

I don't know, I was younger when I played that game, it made me think, question myself. The game was definitely formative during formative years of my life. There's a lot to love if you ask me. Especially the power standing, how the character held weapons was more realistic too.

People hate on it, I can understand that, but a lot of things I disliked about DS3 (perma roll and nothing can hurt you) was not in DS2. Panic rolling, got you killed. Enemies could easily roll catch. Parry was actually a skill.

And universal steel. Almost every armor in that game, can be mixed and matched, because they used the same steel for most of the armors.

Elden Ring fashion SUCKS. By comparison. There ain't no Alva Set in Elden Ring and it shows.

The main thing that holds DS2 back for me is it’s wack bosses. The DLC has a couple of great ones but that’s about it.

Dks1 is my favorite, and Dks2 is the closest to it. It's such a hipster thing to say but there was a weird janky charm that went away when they realized these games could actually be popular

I had fun playing dark souls 2.
Do I need to say anything else? To prove something? Nah. The game isn't perfect for sure but has a lot of good ideas, it may be though sometimes and feel weird, but I still had fun.

DS2 requires strong “souls” fundamentals. Don’t be too greedy, learn patterns, master your weapons, don’t panic roll, and use strategies for clearing all the enemies in the area.

The did duel wielding and power stance the best. Hands down. That and the pvp at its prime. It’s not my favorite by any means. But I loved that about the games

I find DS2 is best enjoyed not blind, but with a primer of some key elements: The agility system, the shrine of winter door, what to look out for after acquiring the King's Ring and the Ashen mist heart, and to take weird area connections not literally, but as shortened connections instead of longer ones (i.e., tbe gameplay equivalent of a fade transition)
